context is everything. RGIII was dangerous because of his arm & speed combination, which led the Redskins to run a lot of vertical routes leaving him in the pocket very long with a weak OLine causing him to get hit time and time again.

Mariota is dangerous because of his accuracy & speed combination, which SHOULD lead the Titans to run a lot of short routes which enable him to get the ball out of his hands in a much better OLine. See Tom Brady in his offense, and Peytons last few years in denver. Then once the D starts pressing up, Taywan and CD both take the top off the secondary..

You're worrying about the wrong things.

 

When I hear LaFleur say "use him like RG3" I think of your first example, too long in the pocket, too many designed runs, leaving him unprotected etc. The second example sounds fine, but that's not how they used RGIII, which is what LaFleur said, which was my cause for concern.

If it ends up being like you said then that's great, and if that's the plan maybe LaFleur misspoke or didn't mean to the same extent as it came off sounding like.

 

probably misspoke. he has to know RGIII and Mariota have two completely different arms, as well as Mariota is a straight line Ferrari where as RGIII had more agility so he bounced around the pocket alot more.

 

Have some faith. Robinson didn't fire a bunch of idiots just so that he could hire new ones.

You can't blame LaFleur for RG3s injuries. It's up to the QB to get rid of the ball or get down. RG3 was great in that offense. We should all hope to get that kind of production from Mariota.

Are injuries the main concern?

 

Mariota gets hurt tying his shoes. Might as well get some rushing yards out of him.

I know Walker game is going to slide, but I hope it's not a big roller coaster dip. Walker is very crucial to the growth of Mariota. This was the off season to get Jonnu as many reps as possible while Walker eases up.

We'll have a rejuvenated running attack, which of course will help us see the Mariota we all expected.

Davis and Henry need to take it to the next level this upcoming year.
