personally, I think it's a ploy on the Media.. even if it only garners a splinter of media exposure (via photographs, videos, etc.) it benefits team revenue via jersey sales. Not just jersey sales - it could cater to Bama fans around the nation ( same as Hawaii and Oregon fans last year with Mariota) to jump on board.

They did the same thing to expand jersey sales with Mariota almost instantly after he was drafted - remember succop still had 8 at the time. Now, granted that fell within compliance of the rules. but it's the same principle..

 

We know he will most definitely not be wearing #2 come preseason, so the only real explanation is he wants an occupied jersey number.

I know we have a few duplicated jerseys like with Byard and Sankey, but Austin Johnson has already switched out of 99 to 94 due to Casey being here, I'm now thinking Henry wants a # that's already in use on offense.

Or he's waiting for #27 to be turned over to him...

 

I wonder what the odds of them releasing #27 are...

and our RB's I can see being DeMarco, DH, Cobb. I don't know about Andrews. He was signed to a one year deal, but that could mean nothing - certainly not a guarantee to a major cap hit...

 

If anyone deserves 27 it's Henry, otherwise just retire it already

 

Jumping to conclusions a bit quick here... why does he deserve it, exactly? Because we think he'll be good?

He's an unknown commodity in the NFL.

 

DH can have 27 when he can get all the way through a footwork drill.

 

Could you get through that drill without a bump?

My bet is no one here could. I am not going to throw his footwork under the bus based off of DAY 1...

 

Could I get through it without touching a single pad? Doubt it.

Could I do better than our second round pick?

Absolutely and unequivocally.

But I am not basing this off of one practice. I said pre draft that dude had cement feet. So I'm having some fun with the people on his jock.
