2014 NFL Draft: Pick #11 - OT Taylor Lewan

hilarious how many people on this thread were crying for manziel

 

Thankfully many of them disappeared shorty after Manziel busted

 

I watched a re-air of that draft a while ago. The reaction of Cowboys fans after they selected Zach Martin over Manziel is great.

I was actually at this draft, when I heard Goodell say Lewan's name I was stunned. CBS even went as far as to say we blew the draft on that pick.

I knew the value of a guy like Lewan but 1.) we didnt need him at the time, and B.) we were shopping the pick. After sleeping on it it became more clear why we took Lewan, but man at the time it was a head scratcher.

 

Having just read over the 2014 draft in more detail, some pretty handy players came off the board in the next 10-20 picks.

OBJ, Aaron Donald, Demarcus Lawrence, Brandin Cooks, Teddy, Derek Carr,

 

I remember this clearly. Everyone I wanted was taken, including Ebron the pick before (yikes!), so Lewan was next in line in my book. I didn't get the hate. I was happy with the pick, but I remember thinking Lewan wasn't happy. In his draft interview he seemed very under-enthused to be a Titan.

I don't remember if I posted anything in here tho.

This thread needs to be bumped every year at draft time just so we can all keep things in perspective

Donald is why I was mad with us taking Lewan, I wanted the NFL Defensive MVP that year..
