There has been much discussion on this board regarding the horrible OL play last year. No need to rehash those terrible memories. The focus of our OL FA discussion has been mainly on one prospect, Andy LeVitre, a young LG from Buffalo. Let it be known I would have no issues with the Titans signing him to a deal. This guy is going to be highly sought after and will get highly paid this offseason, as he is by far the best/youngest guard available. Needless to say whoever gets this guy will most likely have to overpay for his services.

Let's say we go into the draft only having addressed Velasco, by tendering him with a 2nd round tender. Our tackles aren't changing and Velasco would be slated to start at center, where he actually graded out very well last year. Under this scenario we draft a LG (Warmack) with our 1st and a RG (Warford) with our 2nd. I also think we take Schwenke (C/G) in the 4th and he competes with Velasco, as well as backs up the guard spots. Warmack is touted to be the best LG prospect potentially ever. So maybe he is an upgrade over LeVitre and will be $6M a year cheaper as well. Warford is a day 1 starter as well. I would be very happy to see this OL take the field next year. BTW I also have us taking RB LeVeon Bell in the 3rd.

I wouldn't be opposed to this scenario if it allows us to address other pressing free agent needs before the draft, namely SS, DT, rotational DE, CB, FB, and a back-up MLB. Some of these FA's will be expensive and some mid-range. My current FA wishlist below, in no particular order:

Position Name 2012 Team Reason PFF Grade Current Age
DT Terrance Knighton Jaguars Big bodied run stuffer, had a down year 4.2 26
DE Michael Bennett Buccaneers Led Bucs in sacks with 9. Good all-round DE 18.8 27
CB KeenanLewis Pittsburgh Led league in pass break-ups 3.2 26
FB Jerome Felton Vikings Lead blocker for AP's 2K season, not a rushing or receiving threat 9.3 26
SS William Moore Falcons Huge upgrade over Babs 6.7 27
ILB Brad Jones Packers First year as a ILB fill-in, had a great season 9.0 26

Give me 2 first day OG/C starters via draft and I don't care if it doesn't come through FA. Actually, I'd prefer they come from the draft (If they're good of course)

I am preparing myself to be disappointed in free agency because I truely think it is going to be hard to attract players to the Titans at this point given the uncertainty at QB and with our HC. The guys we do land we will probably have to over pay for.

I would be very happy to land Warmack and Warford Although I would like to have the experience of LeVitre.

I think landing a safety is the most important thing for us to do in FA because I don't feel that their is a sure fire plug and play safety in the draft that we can be certain will be on the board in the 2nd rnd.

How are you preparing your self for disappointment? Were Titans fan, you should be used to that by now.

When is the last time this team has got big time talent to sign with us during free agency? You should be used to us sifting through the bargain bin by now.

We are the Goodwill of the NFL.

I would love to sign Louis Vasquez from the Chargers. I think we should pursue him right out of the gates. Levitre will be the top dog once FA kicks off, everyone knows that. I say we go hard after Vasquez and let him know how much we want him and try to sell him on the idea of playing for a HOF OL Head Coach and a HOF OL coach in Matthews. A guy like this in FA AND a guy like Warmack at #10 along with re-signing Velasco would do wonders to improve our OL.

We'd have Roos-Vasquez-Velasco-Warmack-Stewart. Not too shabby if you ask me. We improve the protection for both Jake and CJ and the sky will be the limit for this offense.

If we sign a G, Id be all for Warmack at 10.

I wouldnt mind the pick anyways but its just not "sexy." If we get another G, the pick becomes very sexy lol

Normally I would agree. But I honestly didn't see Wimbley signing with us last year. He could have gone almost anywhere he wanted and he chose us. You can say that it was the money that did it but I don't believe that was the only reason he chose to come here.

The same thing with Hasselbeck. He could have gone elsewhere but he chose to come here knowing we had just drafted Jake as a 1st round pick. In these 2 short years after Fisher we have managed to get some really good FAs to sign here.

I'm not defending the horrible coaching and management but I will say that our drafts and FA signings have been better since Fisher quit.
