Have such a love affair with their coach if they had gone 3-13 instead of 11-5?

I get that he beat cancer and was able to come back and coach his team but this whole #chuckstrong stuff is getting ridiculous. He is not the only person to ever beat cancer and he won't be the last person to beat cancer.

I'm not being insensitive, I just think people should look at it differently. Yes, celebrate what your coach did because it is a great feat but stop shoving it down our throats.

What about the thousands of other cancer survivors out there?

I guess my point is would we hear about this as we do today had they gone 3-13 instead of 11-5?

I think it's stupid they gave him credit for 11-5 when his interim coach did all of that. How does he get credit for this season?

I have the same issue with breast cancer and the NFL.

You would be hard pressed to find someone not 'aware' of breast cancer. I understand it is a delicate issue for women, but the Susan G. Komen charity is a sham.

I largely feel the whole cancer and support the troops months in the NFL are just a way for them to pocket more money. I know its not a popular thing to say, but it is what it is.

There should be a testicular cancer month right after the tits month if you ask me. Can wear blue instead of pink.

you can't say testies on TV, it would probably be too offensive. Plus people probably would not take it seriously.

I had breast cancer 20 years ago that was caught early enough just to be damned inconvenient. I disagree with you about the Komen Foundation, they do some good work. The NFL could make and promote donations to cancer organizations and veteran's organizations if their motives were purely selfless.

Sorry to hear that MD, and by no means was I trying to come off as abrasive, I just think the Komen Foundation is using the pink ribbon as more of a brand and an identity than anything. Maybe that was their goal all along though.

However, I view the NFLs promotion of the pink ribbon as a way to lure women into the game more and supporting the troops as just a feel good story.

As a vet, it pisses me off to no end seeing these high ranking officers and pilots get TV time to say hi to their families over the younger guys doing all the work. I have never seen any fresh looking troop on TV saying hi to their parents. The whole thing just rubs me the wrong way and I wish the NFL would just drop it.

I agree and it's just the way our society has become. Everything is a buzz word or based on emotion, not common sense. The amount of $$$ raised for breast cancer is rediculous in relation to other cancers with often worse outcomes. You don't want prostate cancer as the amount $$$$ to find effective treatments is peanuts compared to breast cancer. I should also let it be known my mom has been treated for breast cancer and my father for prostate cancer.
