I agree with a lot of this, but thats only IF CJ attacks the line of scrimmage.

Here's the thing that makes CJ a not viable RB at this point in his career....

I always hear fans say (Here, 104.5, wherever) that...

"CJ is one of those backs you just gotta keep giving carries to, and eventually he'll break a long one."

Well, let's assume, for the sake of argument that that is true, and he will, in fact, eventually break one.

Its kind of hard to keep giving a guy carries when the average for less than 18 inches. See, cause two of those, and a locker pass that leaves a divot in LP field, and we have to give the ball back to the other team.

You CANNOT sustain a drive with a back that can't get you at least 3 yards consistently. CJ has not been that kind of back for years now.

He had 6 games last year under 50 yards, and in each of them he averaged under 3 yards a carry. But other than those 6 games, he has always given us 3+ yards a carry on average.

And I don't get where you think he hasn't been that kind of back for years now. Let's look back at the years:
    2009: 2,000+ yards, 100+ yards in last 11 games, 5.6 ypc
    2010: 1,300+ yards, 100+ yards in 8 games, 4.3 ypc
    2011: 1,000+ yards, 100+ yards in 4 games, 4 ypc

Unquestionably, last year was a horrible year for him. But he hasn't been a terrible back for years. He has been an amazing back for years, and that is evident by his WORST season being a 1,000+ yard 9-7 winning season that most backs would be glad to say was an "average" season, but it's considered a "bad" season just because it is CJ who had those numbers. But he hasn't been coming out and putting up 1.1 ypc for years ... it's shameful, and we need to break it, but it's not his yearly consistent.

And we do have to feed him the ball. 8 or 10 times a game is not enough. We need to make a point that he gets the ball at least 18 times a game, at least a third of them carries should be in running formations.

However, it isn't all Munch's fault and the playcaller's fault, either. When we barely hold the ball 15 minutes on the road @ Chargers and we quickly fall down by 3 scores, there isn't any way we can really keep feeding the ball to the RB, no matter what his name is or how big his check is.

I hate when CJ's ypc is mentioned... typically, it's padded with one or two big runs.

Give him 20 carries... he breaks one or two for a total of 100 yards and the rest 0, 1 or even negative yardage and ypc average is around 5.

Looks good on paper... but the reality is not so good.

That is the type of back we chose to go with. We chose to release the back that could get the hard yards and convert downs for us and keep the back that was more of a long-distance threat. It's not like we thought he was a bruiser and he suddenly lost weight and got faster and just tricked us out of $50mil. We knew we were getting a speedster, and this is what a speedster is. He isn't a 2 yards in a cloud of dust guy. I don't like it, either ... I'm a Eddie George type of guy, but you can't act like it's just CJ sucks because he needs a long run to get to 100 and get to 4+ ypc, that is the nature of a speed back and we knew the can of worms we were diving into.

That is why we need Locker to start looking for people closer than the end zone. Deep passes are great, but when you have a speed guy that isn't going to give you 3 yards on the inside to set up a 3rd and managable, you have to be able to get a quick pass off and set up the 3rd and managable with guys like Washington and Williams.

I don't think we should trade Chris Johnson. I do think we should come out slinging it this weekend and through out this season. We've got the depth at WR and we've got a young QB we need to develop. We've got a great TE in Cook who's emerging, and Britt is finally being worked back into the lineup. Who knows when he could catch fire.

We kept up with NE throwing the rock and if it wasn't for a missed call and a sack fumble, we're sitting in a dead heat. I'm more concerned about our defense. Maybe there will be some personnel changes/additions that will help out this week. Campbell might be in on defense and Marks could be back as well.

I'm gonna remain optimistic about this team. We've played 2 great offenses and we're a young team rebuilding on both sides of the ball. If this team continues to get better over the course of the season, its a productive year. Maybe Locker turns into the star we want and Cook finally puts together strings of productive games. You never know.

CJ BRAVE i think you are a guy i just can't stand. I know you can't care less, but..how in the world are you trying to bash johnson about being soft when our 300 pounds and more guys are getting pushed around and being owned by every single D out there?

He's the one to trade because he's expensive and because he says it's not really his fault? ITS NOT REALLY HIS FAULT. Our o-line is beyond terrible, to see multiple players get in our backfield each and every snap in such a quick way is just disgusting. That's why i dont even rate number 28 yet. Whenever our scheme and our damn blockers decide to make SOMETHING happen in the trenches, then we can all blame the little guy for being buried as soon as he catches the football. JESUS

Oh by the way, Locker ain't helping yet, our O in general is pretty darn bad, we have the talent but our o-line is killing all of it because no one gets time or space to do ****!

Let's hope it gets better, but theres is not a single guy up front that's doing his job efficiently. Roos and Stewart have regressed amazingly.

And to say he's the worst starting running back in the league...boy you guys are way off base. We are making him look as the worst because we cant block a damn soul out there. And i don't even like the guy!!!! But i know with a good o line he would be having a nice year.

Take any blind guy with a cane and stick the ball in his gut and he will give us a yard a carry. Why would anybody in their right mind trade for that? CJ makes a salary of $10M next year. Who wants to pay $10M to that?

No team wants a garbage pos player who only cares about himself and never the team. In 2009 the titans were 8-8 but instead of talking about helping to get the team back into the playoffs he bragged about rushing for 2500 yards.

It's already too late we have paid this guy a $20M SB! His salary this year is $8M! If things don't change soon i say cut bait and send him packing.

The blocking has been horrible but a great back is going to get more than 21 yards on 19 carries even with that poor blocking. This is a selfish player who care nothing about the team who seems to be going down hill in his career. He did nothing last year any back could have done and it keeps getting worse.

    It is his fault!
