I can't believe people are pissed they picked a playmaking WR over a roided-out Guard lol. Picking a guard in the first round is stupid if you have any other kind of need. The Steelers can afford a luxury pick like that because they are the Steelers. Plus they have a much worse OL than we do. But serviceable guards and RBs are a dime a dozen. Titans had K Wright the highest rated player on their board and took him, I have no problem with that. What's bad is drafting strictly based on need. Going BPA all the time is the way to go, that's how the best clubs do it.

J Rice ran a 4.7 at the combine, what a bust he was. People put too much stock in numbers. Speed isn't everything.

Here is my semi-long winded opinion of Mr. Wright (Wrong?) and other topics related. Now that i've watched our faithfull cognoscenti post pick presser along with some other videos i think this is the right pick.

Obviously, i think it is clear Brockers/Cox/Gillmore/Kirkpatrick/Barron/Floyd/Coples/Ingram were most likely ahead of Wright or very close to him on our draft board and DeCastro was not.

So let me get DeCastro out of the way, initially i was saying oh draft him he's a can't miss, but thinking about it more...Munchies and Bruce probably belive they can take a flyer on a late round guard/center and turn him into a perrenial probowler, i digress to this thought (points to AMANO) but nonetheless i think we are still going to take a center later in the draft and the rest of our picks will be D suplemented by maybe another HB (hey, we need a big bruiser). So I'll stick with those guys opines and since our past draft has/is panning out well from last year i think i can trust this non-fisher braintrust.

Not taking a Dline man - i read somewhere here that good ol' Ruston probably thinks D-Morgan is legit, we will see, but i think the real deal is that the DE/DT is deeeeep in this draft so value can be found in rounds 2-7 and we have a good recent track history with dline picks. (raises arms of K/C and the sunshine band - Klug and Casey for you guys who didnt get that).

    On to Wright.

Long Term: Nate is gone in 2 years, Damian/Lavelle are not #2 WR or more importantly field stretchers (insert Michael Irvin #20 mock pick reasoning here) It's clear that we are thinking long term with this pick, but also short term....that is if Britt can stay healthy. With Britt healthy, we might have the fastest set of skill set players around. CJ/Cook/Wright/Britt/Washington oh and Locker can run around to. imagine the havoc we can cause :clown:. And its about time we are able to froth at the true ability to have a great offense i the future. Wright will ultimatley provide a smooth transition and hopefully a outstanding WR duo (trio?) for years to come (note Kendal Wright is 22 years old... Kenny Britt is 23 and so is Damian Washington)

Short Term: According to Mr. Palmer rookies in his system will/can/have flourished. Short term this provides us with an answer if Britt can't stay on the field - we were caught a bit with our pants down :banned: when he went down but were able to sustain our O throughout the year. So if Britt does go down we have ourselves an insurance policy. Also if everyone is healthy, i do fully expect our quarterback chosen to have a magnificent year, for some reason now, I think Locker is sitting another year though (that's another topic).

More on Wright, with Britt healthy, he will draw double teams and open up the field for CJ/Cook/Wright/Washington..let it sink in a bit...yes the image of that bum Mercilus (hey he is an enemy) chasing down CJ and whoever their sorry CB's (minus joseph) and safteys are chasing down Wright/Washington/Britt/Cook

Well let's see how the rest of the draft plays out before we crucify our leaders....I have confidence in our guys.

They can't be dumb enough to not draft defense....

I said before the draft that we would focus on the passing game more this year and less on running the ball with CJ, and predicted that while CJ's total yards might not be what they once were, he will have a high YPC and be more effective. To me this pick tells me that is exactly what the FO is thinking. The O is transitioning into of a more spread out the D and back them off with the passing game, then after they backed off a little let CJ do his thing. It is just getting harder and harder for opposing D's to stack the box without consequences.

I am still pretty shocked that we took a WR in the 1st thought. Not dissapointed, just shocked. I do think that Locker will be given every oppurtunity to take the #1 spot from Hass now. The potential for this offense is just too great now to let him sit.

DL round 2, C/CB round 3/4 and I think we will have had a very good draft

The more I think about the pick the more I really, really like it....going against top offenses like we are in the first 4 weeks and the season as a whole is going to require us to score a ton of points....this is an offensive shoot out type game of football now and the Titans will be lining up Britt, Washington, Wright, and Cook all over the field, and then oh yeah, CJ in the backfield....Locker will have all the weapons he needs to succeed, which is ultimately the most important thing

Defenses were not stacking the box most of last season.

Yea I was kinda clueless when we selected Wright, walking around thinking "wtf are you serious?" As many had said before, I felt the same when we selected CJ. The DT and DE classes are deep this year, so we'll fill those holes in the next picks. Another offensive threat won't hurt.

What the hell was seattle thinking??? LMAO (I know off subject, but had to get it out)

Anyone but me want the Titans to give up a four to go up two spots for Ingram?

Initially early on in the mock threads I thought we would go WR. Very interesting that after more and more studying prospects we end up taking the one WR I never payed much attention to. I ended up changing my mind multiple times... Lol

Makes this offense very strong. I was rooting for Decastro no doubt tho. apparently our FO is making the modern transition the Fisher never would.

With Wright taking the top off the defense early and often, our biggest need now is to be able to get him the ball...

Pretty awesome to think Lockers best ball is his deep one. I'm not sure I want to see hass floating his ugly deep ball to wright.
