Someone may have said this already, but what's the date CJ has to show up by in order to not lose a year of free agency? I thought it was 30 days before the first regular season game but I'm not sure on that.

Does anyone think that CJ may be worth a boat load full of picks? Imagine two first rounders and a second rounder? I don't know that I would hate that. It would be cool have two first rounders in the next two drafts. Obviously this team is in rebuild mode. I'm not so sure that making CJ the highest paid player in the league is the best idea.

    I agree but disagree... lol

I love CJ, so I don't want to trade him. But if we are in "full rebuild" mode it would be hard not to trade him for two 1sts and two 2nds. But, you don't trade your offense, and without CJ our offense is nothing. Pay the man.

He'll be back mid preseason. After watching a few preaseason games he'll come back and try to negotiate a deal. He'll see his guys go to battle on TV and realize he needs to come back. If he doesn't, I would have to question himself as a player and a teammate. I know this league is a business, but c'mon man!!

This hold out has been so aggravating to watch.:irked:

If the Titans are really that one dimensional we're in trouble anyways.
CJ typically has those home run carries on passing downs facing pass defenses. When faced with seven or eight man fronts he goes basically nowhere. In short, CJ is not CJ2K without the threat to pass.

Titans have a history of running in pass situations anyways. Some defensive coordinators we face don't buy into it. As exciting as CJ is, he's completely made on the long td carry. It's great that it averages to 4 or 5 yards a carry but CJ is not going to grind out the tough yards on 3rd and 3.

My point is that despite CJ superstar qualities the Titans may be better off with a more average back, maybe one that is a superior pass blocker. It might turn out that some high picks can tip the balance of not having CJ on the roster. What if we had a crushing safety on defense and a linebacker who is without question elite in his own right?

If CJ gets in camp and they do whatever they do, CJ's touches on 3rd down will speak to me whether he's worth his paycheck.

I'm obviously no GM, but I think I'd deal him for two 1st rounders and another high pick/good player in a heartbeat. That's no doubt blasphemy to many around here. But I'm just trying to look at this objectively.

What are the odds that CJ is going to be playing at a truly elite level for more than a couple more years? Not good IMO.

What are the odds that the Titans are going to be contending for a Super Bowl in the next couple years? Again, not good IMO.

And isn't that what it's all about... winning championships? If the front office thinks the odds are that CJ will be past his prime by the time we are legit contenders then what would be so wrong with trading him for the sake of building for the long-term future? I have no doubt we could rob some RB-needy "on the cusp" team blind in a trade for CJ.

All that said, I would definitely like to keep him for a fair price as long as we aren't planning on just running him into the ground a la Fishface until he's worthless by the age of 29. If that's the case or if he's being too unrealistic with his contract demands then I say ship him to whoever will give you the most value. :wink2:

When CJ was CJ2K we hardly EVER passed unless it was on 3rd and long. Kenny Britt wasn't even a factor.

CJ2K was CJ2K because defenders had never seen speed like his before. He'd literally have defenders running full speed with their backs turned trying to grab him when he sped by them.

    Pay da man!!!

Which is why you make your best players happy. They should've worked out a long term deal 2 years ago when they could've locked him up for much cheaper.
