Not a big fan of McShay myself, but I did wonder since Kenny Britt continues to get into small trouble if that will change what we do in the first round and as for not McShay has us taking Julio Jones at 8...... I'm a big Julio fan, but should we go that route? Thoughts?

    No.

Receivers just are not hugely important when it comes to team success. A guy like Jones would only touch the ball maybe seven times AT MOST a game. Just can't justify spending the eighth pick in the draft on a guy like that.

I agree that a WR might not be the most important part of a team...HOWEVER, a good WR on our team will have a positive affect on our running game. With the number 8 pick any player we take there (besides Mallett) will make me happy. Lot of good value bound to be there.

You're right, a good WR is going to help our running game....if he has someone to get him the ball. Larry Fitzgerald didn't help the Cardinal's running game very much last year.

Drafting a guy like Jones is putting the cart before the horse.

I agree that taking Jones at 8 would be putting the cart before the horse; however, I don't see any reasoning in not taking precautions to ensure that we have the best possible WR corps for our new QB.

My suggestion? Go with a FA like Simms-Walker or Malcolm Floyd. Address the WR position in the draft if you must, but don't make it a top priority.

If he's the best player available, sure.

Problem is he's at best the tenth-best player and thus will not be the BPA at #8.

In any case, with a new coaching staff and an abbreviated or nonexistent offseason, a rookie WR is not going to help us this year anyway.

macolm floyd is probably the best wr in FA but will need big money too...and we could easily resign tully and not have to draft a linebacker until way late rounds if anything---sign a dt or de in free agency and be okay wiht drafting jones then a qb in second, young dt in 3rd and one of the 4ths, the other 4th with a cb and we could still be in good shape

Floyd is not worth anywhere near the money he will end up getting. He's just not that good. His numbers were way inflated by an MVP-level season from Rivers. Put Floyd on a team with an average QB and he's just another guy.

There's no reason to spend any money at WR until the QB position is settled. As much as we all hate to say it, Washington, Williams, Cooks and even *gulp* Gage can hold down the fort for another year if necessary. Plus, there's a good chance Britt is suspended for 4 games or less.

Drafting Julio Jones would be a panic move. The Titans need to stick with the original plan.

I'm not against taking a WR @ #8 if he's the best player available but we have much bigger needs at DL/QB/LB/S/OL. Now if AJ Green were to fall to #8 then I'd say we'd have to take him. He's a #1 talent and we'd be getting a steal. Jones not so much.

We'd have to be very confident of getting something good for Britt to take one with the first.
