His best statistical year was when he ran the least. Maybe running is what stifled him. Running as a last ditch effort is what it should be about. VY made good throws overall this year while he was in. He developed a little bit of patience, I believe, because he was not so inclined to jet as soon as pressure comes, or just as soon as he felt like it.
His running was a liability to his health, and to the team (more fumbles) VY played it safe this year, and it paid off in the stat columns.

I understand that but some players are better off sticking to what they know. Lord knows we shouldn't try making Chris Johnson into an between the tackles runner even though that seemed like that's what we tried doing all year this year.

I just love that Munchak at least said that he would let players take ownership of the job and put their mark on it. That's what makes guys like James Harrison, Troy Polamalu, and while he was here, Albert Haynesworth so good. Guys who do what they know and do it very, very well.

I wish I had time to read the whole thread, but I don't. However, I did just read the article from the Tennessean about Munchak wanting to make the team his own. I have to tell you, I'm pretty damn excited to be a Titan fan going forward. Much more excited than I was say... three weeks ago. Munchak's "It all starts with the quarterback" trumps Fisher's "I want to run the ball" all day everyday. If it were Fisher inheriting this team right now, he'd talking about how he's going to get CJ an extra 50 carries this upcoming season, or at least that would be his intent with whatever drivel he managed to spew out.

I know walking the walk and talking the talk are two different things, but right now, all we have is what the man is saying. The walking will have to come later. From what Mike has said, it seems he wants what most of us want i.e. a passing game, discipline, and accountability. Of course, I'm sure he wants some Lombardis too. :brow:

Fisher wouldn't change with the game. Hopefully, Mike will stand by his words.

Also, don't give up on Heimerdinger. If he's asked to engineer a passing offense, look out. Check his resume of QB's and WR's he's worked with.

I like the thought that McCarthy, Payton, Tomlin, & Coughlin have all won their franchise a Super Bowl within their first 5 years of service there. That's promising for Munchak.

What if Dinger stayed on as an adviser similar to the role Moore has with the colts? Or is Bud too cheap to do that?
