The one thing I hope for is that Munchak, if hired, lets his coordinators do their jobs. Our defensive scheme hasn't changed since Williams left us even though we have changed coordinators. The same was true when we went from Chow to Dinger. To me this points to a problem with the head coach.

I agree, especially on the offensive side. I think Dinger is a much better coordinator then was allowed to be shown under Fisher. Munch played with Moon and some great offensive teams in Houston, maybe he'll tie a little of that with the ground game to close out games.
As far as the defense, that is the exact reason I wasn't upset about possibly bringing in Mangini as DC. He would bring some fresh new schemes to a defense that has largely been vanilla the past 2 years.

Good point. The old argument was that no matter who Fisher brought in as OC/DC, nothing really changed. If Munch brings in quality coordinators, and lets them do their jobs, that alone will make him different in many ways than Fisher.

It didn't work for 17 years. Again, time to try something else, something totally different from what we were doing. Which is why I don't want Munchack. He's a Fisher disciple why would he suddenly decide, I think the best course of action is to try and be like the Packers or Saints. Fisher was obsessed with trying to turn us into the 2001 Ravens, problem was we were always a poor man's version of that team.

Thanks Titanshope for pointing out the overlooked obvious re: Gruden. I haven't understood why his name is being thrown around; I kinda thought that anyone with a memory span that runs longer than last week knew that Gruden's SB victory was a fluke based on a coincidence and saw that his record since hasn't been very good. The word I get from a few TB fans is that he isn't very good with relating to the players... dunno how accurate that is.
Cowher stepped down after winning his one and only ring as a HC, which makes him both qualified to be still available and be coaching material. Gruden?.. he's not on the market by choice and hasn't had a good season since the freakish 2005 11-5 ( which is eclipsed by our own freakish 13-3 season featuring CJ and The Colonel; did anyone expect that to happen again?).

Personally, I think that hirng from within (Munchak) is the most reasonable way to go for right now; that is, under the assumption that he saw what Fisher's failures were and knows the Rolodex well enough to fix them quickly with the players available to him right now.

It worked out well for Todd Haley this season, until Weis announced he was bolting for Florida anyway.

I'm curious. To all the people who WANT Munchack, did you also WANT Fisher fired? If so that makes absolutely no sense that you'd want Munchack.

Only because all you want to see is that Munchack will be an exact clone of Fisher style offense.

I understand that's a risk, but as others have said, if he lets the coordinators handle more responsibility that would already separate him from Fisher style.

And Munchack isn't the first choice I would have for HC, but I'm not going to be doom and gloom if he is hired either.
