Did you watch the press conference where the FO said they were going to sign a veteran and draft a rookie? VY is gone, it's time to move on and focus on the future.

    No duh.

But that in every way puts to rest the idea I was responding to, that VY is the only thing that made the Titans relevant in the last 5 years. The only year we WERE relevant, he was not playing.

This might come as a surprise to hear seeing how I've been supporting VY, but as much as I wish to keep him, it really is best for both him and the franchise to move on and get a fresh start. The bridge is burnt and things look to be beyond fixable.

You're right...was shocked to see you say that, and gave you my first high five because of it. You're dead on though, it is best for both to move on. Hopefully being cut is a wake-up call for him and he can get his career back on track.

I think it all depends on the head coach. The whole "organization" is going to be gone now. The FO and the coaches.

Bud Adams liked VY. VY liked playing for BA.

You never know if the new head coach will want to keep Young. His position's coach supported him and wanted to bring him to Minnesota.

I think whether or not VY comes back all depends on the new head coach.

The powers hire than the head coach have already said (today even) that they're going to draft another QB and acquire another veteran. Sounds like he's gone, unless Bud suddenly decides to slam down his fist and say "I love some Vince Young"

...that's really not a situation anyone wants. If he does come back by the means that would be necessary, he would then be in a power position (power is not quite the word I want but I can't think of the correct term) above not just every other player on the team, but the coaching staff as well...

...and everyone in that locker room would realize that, including him. That's the kind of thing that tends to lead to what become locker-room-cancer problems and such.

The FO will not be gone. Underwood said he would retire when his contract is up this summer, but VY will be cut long before that. He will not be on the roster March 1st when he is due a $4 million roster bonus. Both Underwood and Reinfeldt said in the press conference today that they were moving on from VY and would bring in both a veteran and a rookie QB. I think as fans it's time for us to move on as well and look forward to a fresh start for our team.

I think the best option would be to keep Young and to draft a QB. That way we have a shot at a title in 2011 and we also have a shot in 2012 to make some noise if our rookies is able to adjust quickly. If Young doesn't perform, or makes any other mistakes it doesn't matter because he's gone anyway. If Young plays great and likes the new FO and head coach we have a franchise QB and we didn't scrap our SB hopes in 2011.

I feel that we're a QB and 2 defensive players away from contenders. I want to build a solid franchise for the future, but I also want to try to win a championship next year.

Crazy year. I bet Vince stays on in TN. NFL Network is already alluding to it. Vince will need to grow up, take less money, and of course, the new head coach will have a lot to say. But why not keep him while we have CJ and Moss.
