Enter the recent Tennessean article detailing how teammates and coaches had to be very careful in any criticism of VY as to not "set him off"..
    This is not news.

So the only guys to "have VYs back" are Britt and CJ? Britt and VY can act a fool together. CJ, well, just focus on running the ball harder.

Being a consumate pro or leader is not about being "Cool" or "Fun", it's about coming to work everyday trying to get better at your craft and handling the weight of the team on your shoulders through the good times, but especially through the BAD! That is why Mawae said what he did. Being a pro is about no being a selfish child!

This isn't the first time Mawae has said this. He said it at the end of the 2007 season, I believe.

I'd like to see that article - can you get a link? I couldn't find it on the tennessean. I believe it, I'd just like to see what they said.

Look, I'm no jock-strap sniffer. As much as I criticize Fisher for other things, I don't have too much of a problem with his handling of Young - certainly not in the Washington game. As soon as Bud said they'd have to work together I said he should have addressed VY's actions and announced some disciplinary action. I've said I think we should bring in a viable veteran QB as an option to see if he can outplay Young. I'm not sold on Young at all, and Mawae's comments aren't helping his case.

I just want any QB that will get the job done. I don't care much if it's VY or Drew Bennett. Hell I'd trade him for Josh Freeman today if we could. But choosing between Young and Collins? Young. Young and Rusty? Young. Young and Fisher? Young. That's just not saying much, though. Give me Cowher/Jim Harbaugh and Vick/Freeman/[anyone decent] and I'd be happy to forget we ever had VY.

What Kevin Mawae said was nothing new. We all know Vince isn't putting in the kind of time Warren Moon, Vinny Testaverde, Kerry Collins, or Chad Pennington did. But the reason I support Vince is because each time he screws up, he rebounds quite nicely from it. This year was his first full offseason coming in knowing he'd be the starter, and he made significant improvements. Teammates said he was coming to work early and leaving late. We don't need him to be Warren Moon. When Vince's biggest issue was turnovers, guess what he worked on... The guy is far from a perfect QB, but he's the best we've got right now, and the best we've had since McNair's departure. Give me Vick, or Matt Ryan, and I'm done with saying Vince is our best QB. But until he's got real competition, and not Kerry Collins, then I'll continue to back the guy.

Vince is also a cool guy you root for. He's fun to follow, even during this mess him and Fisher put us in right now.

Don't bother - was just curious. I know we've seen suggestions that he needs to put in more time... but until Mawae's comments I don't think I'd seen anything from a player that had a critical tone as opposed to a meaningless "he's gotta keep working and improving" type of tone.

I'm about in JCBrave's shoes. He's got issues. On the field he's improved, but he's not exactly irreplaceable. I'd take his whining over Collin's losing for now, but I'd be relieved if anyone could just come in and make the job theirs.
