I've started to realize that most of the VY supporters/Fisher haters are numbers people. All they look at are the numbers. They point to Fisher's mediocre record and VY's win/loss record/passer rating this season. Look past that though, please. There are so many variables that play into winning a Super Bowl. Who knows if CJ didn't get injured against Baltimore, or if Mike Jones never made that tackle. And, playing in the same division as Peyton Manning, perhaps the best QB ever? That's bad luck.

Look past VY's passer rating, and look at how immature he still is. 5 years later, and we still don't know if he's learned the whole playbook. 5 years later, and he's still having tantrums about injuring his thumb. His work ethic is questionable, and I feel like the only people who support him in that locker room are his old Texas buddies. We were all hoping he would be the next Steve McNair. But, he isn't, and he won't be. All I suggest is to look past the numbers.

Numbers are factual. Everything else is speculation.

"What if Mike Jones didn't make the tackle?"
"What if CJ didn't get injured?"
"What if Peyton Manning wasn't in our division?"

I'm sick of people trying to blame Fisher's failures on "bad luck". You can really only blame bad luck for so long. Over a span of a few years? Sure, why not. Over a span of 16+ seasons? Not so much.

If you wanna buy into the bad luck theory, even after nearly two decades of chances, fine. Then it might be time to start considering that maybe Jeff Fisher is just a very unlucky guy and it's only gonna be more of the same in the future. :wink2:

Also, I don't only look at numbers and stats. But at the end of the day they are the most tangible means of making an argument we have.

I can point to these numbers and build a REAL (i.e. factually based) argument about why Jeff Fisher isn't a great coach. The Fish-defenders have to rely on blaming bad luck and using hypothetical scenarios to make their case.

Oh look, a USC fan hating on Vince Young, what a novelty.

Lets keep playing the 'what if' game. What if Vince doesn't make that 14-yard game winning run. You would probably be able to sit without discomfort.

Look, I know where you're coming from. I almost always use numbers to support arguments, because they can't be disputed. But, to base Fisher's credentials on solely his record is incomplete. You're just completely ignoring everything else. Shanahan, by your standards, is a great coach, because he's won two Super Bowls. But, what has he done since Elway (HOF QB)? 1 playoff win. Lot's of people here want Billick as our next coach, but he won one Super Bowl only because of his defense. Just one problem. He's an offensive coach. Gruden? Won with Dungy's players. And, because of the defense. Again, he's an offensive coach. What about Dungy? He's a defensive coach, but the Colts defense was the big problem for who knows how many years. The one year they were competent, they won. All these head coaches had lots of other variables thrown their way. To dismiss a coach, who has had success in the past, without considering his intangibles is unfair to him.

I agree VY bandwaggoners should STFU about our coach.
Don't agree with the speculations and "what ifs" though

Should I change the picture? Would you take me more seriously then? I was a HUGE VY fan. I bought his jersey, I bought his football card, even had a poster. I thought he was going to be great, like a lot of you. Then 5 years later happened, okay? You looked at my USC picture and immediately thought bias, but the only one showing bias is you.

I expected this from you or a few others after the article about Fisher being mediocre was posted. :ha: Now we throw out facts and bring up hypothetical because it fits your argument against VY and for Fisher but if it was the other way around you would be screaming about looking at VY's stats being horrible and Fisher having a great record. This is comedy

I see where you're coming from as well. The thing is, I'm not basing my opinion that Fisher is not a great coach solely on the fact that he hasn't won a Super Bowl. Because you're right, there are a lot of factors that go into winning the big one. But besides his 0-1 SB record, there's also his poor post-season record. His so-so regular season record. The fact that he hasn't won a playoff game in 7 years. All of which are indisputable. And again, it's not like these numbers are being cherry picked. Those numbers are based on a remarkably HUGE sample size, by head coaching standards.

Like I said, I do see where you're coming from. And if this were Fisher's 5th or 6th year as this team's HC I'd be right there with you. But we're talking about his 16th full year now. At what point does he run out of chances?
