VY had a couple of other passes that could have been picked off as well. Come to reality, the guy sucks. His play yesterday was simply a tidbit of how VY plays all the time. His turnover ratio and passer rating reflect that.

Did anyone catch the play at about the 12:30 mark on the first drive by Collins? Bad throw trying to squeeze it into a tight spot, and basically gift wrapped a pick that the LB simply dropped.

I'm not making excuses for Vince at all, he didn't look good out there last night.

I am not bashing Kerry, he is the starter, and I am rooting for him as the starter.

But I also think Vince didn't look as abysmal as the stat line suggests.

If you can't see the media slant by now, I don't thin you ever will. This morning "Collins Outplayed Young" was the headlines all over the net.

Most of us would agree that Collins looked more confident and polished.

But these articles go on to say. Collins first two drives end in TD's, while Vince's ended in a Interception, and a 3 & out. While truth, the reporters fail to point out, that Kerry's first drive ended in a punting situation which turned to a touchdown, and he escaped the first drive with a very near INT. I know that football is a game of inches and near misses, and I only posted the comment about the almost INT, because if that would have happened, and Collins didn't get a touchdown pass(which he didn't), the buzz on the forum would have probably been focused on Collins' poor play, and that Patrick Ramsey should be starting.

I know we are all jacked about football, but lets look at the game for what it was, a pre-season game, our QB's looked descent, and it should provide fuel for a #2 competition, which is only good for the team.

Looking forward to how the season hashes out. Go Titans.

Only in an alternate universe could anyone see anything but disaster with that pass. Without even looking VY threw up a wounded duck. Sure, the defender, not being a hands guy could have dropped it but that doesn't mean the pass didn't suck. The pass sucked.... I'm not sure I've seen anything that bad in my lifetime of watching NFL football (come to think of it that was real bad for college or HS as well) where the Qb wasn't being mauled or the pass batted. Think about it. Have you seen a pass that bad by anyone before? That was as bad as it gets.

My point is no one can know for sure what would have happened if Hawkins had run the correct route. Period. Maybe the pass would have been right on the money it Hawkins was where he was supposed to be...we just can't say either way. Pretending we can is pointless. We aren't God. We are simply a bunch of passionate Football fans.

p.s. Yes, I have seen worse passes than that. Neil O'donnell threw one in the Super Bowl that looked worse than that one.

Let's be Realistic Here Please! Our starting QB is not a Very Accurate Thrower Either, Just a Seasoned Veteran. Collins through one pass directly to a defender, one pass on third down far out front of his receiver, and one behind Alge Crumpler that he was somehow able to catch. That's 3 Poorly thrown balls out of 10 with excellent protection on each. It's Laughable the way people critique 10 passes, and come to the conclusion that no progress has been made.

Wow! Some of your are up for the "False Dichotomy of the Year" award!

By no means, just because some of us criticized his play last night, in anyway, make us VY haters.

Every QB that played last night had good and bad plays! ALL OF THEM!

    It's part of the game.

Furthermore, most of us want to see him succeed. But guess what, NO ONE gets a free pass from constructive criticism. Which is what most of us are doing.

Some of you would defend a double amputee QB, if he were in a Titans jersey. "It's just the 1st preseason game", "Don't get your panties in a wad"...:blah:

VY gets a lot of criticism simply because we selected him to be our future QB. Also, because of the high expectations he puts upon him self. I'm glad that he does, because he should hold him self responsible and try to strive for the best he can.

But for crying out loud, there is no need to bash another fan of the same team we all love because we are discouraged with his performances over the last couple of seasons.

This man has played football for at least 10 years, starting with HS football. I don't know if he played any earlier than that, but point being, as the level of competition goes up, his play goes down.

I'm sure all of us are frustrated, but we all have different ways of expressing it.

I'm personally sick of seeing each of us call other posters "VY homers" and "VY haters". Can't we just be fans of the team? Some of you would have us all be f**king robots as a fan, with the inability to ever have a different opinion.

This goes for both "haters" & "homers". This is an internet forum, with LOTS of different personalities, either learn to grow with each other, or your time spent here will always be fruitless as all we will do is argue over who is right and who is wrong over 1 single player.

Now, how about Chris Johnson last night. D*mn he sure stunk it up on all but one really good run. I think Javon Ringer is gonna take his spot away from him...

Or how about that Paul Williams TD, Gage & Washington better look out, they didn't catch any glorious TD's last night. They might be on the chopping block....

Or even better yet, Craig Hentrich, we might as well cut him, we have a punter that can score TD's.

    /end rant & saracasm

Now, everyone, cheer the f**k up already! The season is upon us and I am ready for some Titans football!!

I don't like labeling people, so I usually don't. In this case though, there are quite a few VY haters that are posting here. I'm no VY homer, by any stretch, but to say he is hopeless because of last night's game is just sad. He very well could be hopeless, but I'm not ready to make that judgement yet.

Then you shouldn't make that judgment.

But we can't not allow other posters to make that judgment. It's their opinion, let them have it.

I will agree that if their basing it solely off of last nights performance, then yes, they are jumping the gun a bit. But I'd imagine that most people that are considered haters here, have just been frustrated with his lack of play over the last two seasons and this just reaffirms what they believe about him.

The same can be said for those that are VY optimists, they see his TD pass last night, which was a hell of a pass for anyone, and that reaffirms that he can be a good QB in this league.

If any of us want to honestly change another posters view on VY the player, then they need to have a sensible debate about it. Bickering with one another not only doesn't help the optimists/pessimist cause, it's also just a waste of energy to even post in the 1st place.

I don't know about any one else, but no one is going to change my mind by telling me I'm a "hater" or a "homer", or that I need to stop whining! In fact it will just make me resent you as a poster and take away any credibility I had for you. (I'm not talking about you personally, MCMojo.)

For now, Vince Young is a member of the Titans, I shall support him and wish him well, but when he plays poorly, I will provide my own opinion on his play via constructive criticism.
