actually i belive he made it twice...once yes as a returner but also after the season we lost to the pats int he playoffs he made it as a reciever (that was the probowl that mcnair, hopkins, craig, and bulluck).

although regardless....in 17 wr drafts only 1 WR pro bowl birth (although we all no mason was snubbed from a couple....)

since 97 our WR draftees are as follows:

    Joey Kent 97 (don't have a clue)
    Derrick Mason 97 (probowler)
Kevin Dyson 98 (was productive here)
Justin McCareins 01 (was productive here with McNair)
Eddie Berlin 01 (he had flashes)
    Jake Schifino 02 (who?)
    Darrel Hill 02 (who?)
    Tyrone Calico 03 (sucked)
Courtney Roby 05 (doesn't he play for the Colts?)
Brandon Jones 05 (49ers, alright WR when healthy)
Roydell Williams 05 (I thought he was good, just couldn't stay healthy)
    Jonathan Orr 06 (?)
    Paul Williams 07 (sucks)
    Chris Davis 07 (sucks)
    Joe Filani 07 (who?)
    Levelle Hawkins 08 (potential)

yeah, our talent evaluation is definately messed up. The common denominator in most of these is that they are all drafted after the first two rounds (with the exception of Dyson and Calico). There are only 3 of these players on our current roster, everyone else has either been traded away or cut. We seem to perpetually let them come, and let them go. If they're decent, we never really let them blossum into WR's. If they're terrible, we never play them and let them go eventually (i'm not upset about that).

Bottom line: The WR position is cursed on this team.

How many WR's went in the 1st round last year? wasnt many was it? maybe it will be like this year. and we can finally pick a good one up. Would we have drafted a WR last year if CJ wasnt there?

the article is pretty damning ... 10+ years of drafting wr's and 1 decent player out of that crop?

Oh God... don't get me started with that fool... I can't remember the year (I think 2003 season in which we lost to the Patriots), but he fumbled 2 or 3 times against the Colts. We stayed in the game even with 4 or 5 total turnovers, but his were too costly. Justin McCareins sealed the victory for the Colts when he came in to replace Berlin. He followed in Berlin's footsteps by fumbling the ball away to the Colts.

We would have won the freaking AFC South that year if it weren't for blowing that game.

I hated Eddie Berlin. I remember when we did some fake punt and he ran like 60 yards for a TD, but that's about all he ever did.

Here is an interesting article written back in 2006 by CLayton.

The Titans aren't the only team that has a hard time drafting WRs. The odds on WRs drafted in the first round that end up being busts is ridiculous. Bottom line is you really have to get lucky every now and then just to get a good WR unless you are drafting a guy like Fitz. Heck, there are Titans fans who were mad as heck when we passed on Mike Williams.
