It's best catch, not best route running ability.

Personally I think Prothro's catch wins hands down. All these other ones are definitely great catches, but they were all believable. I can't believe to this day that Prothro held on to that pass. Amazing.

Another nominee might be this catch.

Not necessarily for skill so much as historical relevance. (And I just love bringing up 18-1. :)) )

Gotta go with the David Tyree catch. It came on a much bigger stage and in a much more crucial moment.

I agree. Tag on Eli Manning keeping the play alive, it was a great play period.

man, whatever happened to Prothro ?
I haven't heard much since the big injury a few years back

    ........ INFO .......Injury
He later suffered a complete fracture of both major bones (tibia and fibula) of his lower left leg against the University of Florida on October 1, 2005, ending his junior season.[7] Despite extensive rehabilitation and three separate surgeries, Prothro was unable to resume his football career. On August 3, 2007, he was placed on a medical hardship scholarship and taken off the football roster with coach Nick Saban saying there was no way Prothro could play again.[8]
