I think there are two important things to consider

    a) Sending a personality
    b) Sending teams they may root for

    a) There are very few nfl marketing machines right now, the only one may be Tom Brady.
    b) New York Giants are probably the best team to send as everyone knows NY, but Miami is next, and then after that, there is nobody to send.

When the teams like Real Madrid came here, I became aware, but it did not get me to buy anything. Whatever financial machine they are looking to trigger, they need to step it up. I doubt that San Diego and/or New Orleans will get it done. U2's connection to the Saints may actually help. I don't know. But maybe. But really, the Saints offer nothing.

I think if the London Monarchs played the New York Giants, you might have something, but it would have to count. Cause Exhibitions suck.

  3. Don't worry, they will both have a bye the following week, as did giants and the phins.

I'm agree about the loss of a home game for US fans & your New Orleans comments make a strong argument.

What you said about NFL Europe was a little off though.

There are lots of longterm hardcore fans over on our side of the pond & the problem all along with NFL Europe was that we knew we were getting a 3rd rate product. 90% of the games were awful spectacles that weren't even up to the standard of pre season games.

The teams had a yearly 75% roster turnover of no name players who by & large weren't good enough to play in the NFL. It was doomed from the start as knowledgeable fans viewed it as an insult to our intelligence.

Everyone in the UK is familiar with New Orleans...maybe they are trying to use that as a marketing scheme?

I agree with the criticism of taking away a new orleans home game. What happened to the league's commitment to the city? They lost 8 home games two seasons ago, now they lose another one.

I'm all for the NFL switching to a 17 game schedule, with 1 neutral site game for each team, but it's not fair to do it to certain teams and not others.

The idea of promoting the league by having a game in london is great. I understand the argument about the saints and how new orleans is not a city that can give up a home game but talk to saints management about that.

The flight is beyond first class or business class. 80 men in over stuffed chairs playing video games. Poor babies.

This is our intinery when we fly to the Philippines. Think lewis black's comedy routine here..

Fly nashville to detroit..northwest's international hub.

Walk one mile plus from detroit's domestic terminal to detroit's international terminal carrying 50lbs of stuff!

Fly 20 hours to a fine japanese city.

Wait 1.5 to 3 hours for flight to manila.

We fly coach! With hundreds of stangers eating cold.... noodles!

Have you ever had a japanese hotdog? With a gallon of mayo!

The san diego chargers got it good!

FYI, the distance from san diego to tokyo is the same as san diego to london.. 5500 miles..

    Bingo.

I've always thought the preseason games were ideal for playing in other countries or cities in the U.S. without teams.
