NFL appealing to appear as women’s advocate. Only evidence presented in hearing can be reviewed in appeal. The NFL disciplinary officer found evidence lacking to exceed the league’s precedent on violent v non violent abuse.

NFLPA announced they intend to sue the NFL in federal court. They’ll have a decent case for damages if Goodell or his appointee over rules leagues officer appointed to a arbitrate the case. And things will likely reach settlement before any of this appeal occurs. Pressure play by Goodell to make Watson settle last case.

Haven't they already battled over this in federal court before, and it came down to Goodell has unilateral power over disciplinary action based on what the CBA agreed to.

"The NFL disciplinary officer found evidence lacking to exceed the league’s precedent on violent v non violent abuse." and that is bull**** if you read her findings. She contradicts herself on how bad it was versus what the punishment is.

they would not be challenging the authority of the CBA. They would challenging the consistency of the ruling and the ensuing damages. The NFL disciplinary officer was assigned as arbiter BY the NFL. Her findings were under their authority- after a carefule review of the evidence. The league must maintain consistency with precedent with their punishments or it can be argued their is some form of prejudice, bias or discrimination. In this case, the damages are significant and to deviate from what the arbiter already reviewed can be argued as bias.

I included the link the NFL disciplinary officers ruling and the reasons for such a ruling in a prior post.

Although I believe this has been a complete money grab from the start, IDGAF about Watson and his dumb azz. Just don't like to see anybody get damaged without consistent due process.

How can they pursue a more harsh penalty if no evidence? It's basically Watson's word against the women's words isn't it? Unless there is video footage how will anyone really know what happened?

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell says Deshaun Watson's behavior was 'egregious' and 'predatory'

That is what was agreed upon by the NFL and the NFLPA in the last CBA. Literally.

Don't believe for a second that the NFLPA will file, or stand a snowball's chance of winning a case in a Federal Court. They cannot by the terms of the CBA that they negotiated with the NFL.
