JRob has literally admitted to looking at PFF and “other sources of data”.

Yes, it's all about how you use the information. Unless you don't have the information at all.

Cherry picking the Browns and Jags as a reason to ignore having an analytics team is ridiculous. 31 other teams have said that it's important enough to have at least one person on staff to help in that area, except us. Have the Titans won the Super Bowl every year since Vrabel became a coach? No? Well maybe they should be doing everything they can to find advantages over their opponents.

Do we know what PFF is providing? I had heard PFF say that they were working with every NFL team in some capacity now, but that doesn't necessarily mean analytics. They could easily just be providing them their grading and some other advanced stats on all the teams and players so the team can compare them against theirs, or a number of other services they do. But that doesn't mean they're using them to calculate odds of the Titans making it on a given down based on our past play calls, and what certain players tend to do on certain play calls, etc.

I suppose I don't know that we don't but that was the basis of that tweet and this discussion. Whether we have one or not, people in this thread are arguing that analytics are useless.

Lol I’m not going to get into an argument with a guy who doesn’t think advanced stats are analytics. This is comical.

Sure and those people are just as silly as the ones claiming the Titans don’t have/use analytics.

Analytics is a very broad term. If they're working with PFF, they're getting some form of data, which can be generously called analytics. What I, and the rest of the people here are complaining about, is having PFF crunch some numbers showing you how play action is effective on any down for any team is a very different utilization of data and analytics from having someone in house who knows your offense, your playbook, and your team running numbers and simulations on your team and telling you how effective certain plays are or the odds of succes in certain scenarios with certain players in certain positions.

What's comical is if you really think PFF is providing any serious data specific and useful to the Titans beyond some generic information they're pulling from tape. They have no insight into team specifics besides what they see on film.

Dude it’s not just PFF. Go back and read what I wrote. They admitted to using PFF and OTHER sources.

You are picking and choosing what you quantify as meaningful “analytics” and there’s no way to have a real conversation around that. You don’t know the Titans don’t have that information. You’re just making an assumption.

No one here knows what analytics information is used and isn’t used. I’m calling out the people who are complaining about us “not using analytics” because the Titans have already admitted to doing so. But now it’s “well analytics is a broad term”...
