just his rookie year for us IIRC. Made it once on the Browns, the team that we traded our 1st (#15 overall) and 3rd round (#76 overall) picks to move up 7 spots to #8 overall to get him. I'd say that retrospectively, JRob got schooled on the drafting of Conklin and therefore should either graded much less with the "analysis" pick. We got one really good year out of him. (yes, yes- injuries can't be predicted) but the draft capital we expended for the return should be.

I would argue actually two good years. His first and his last with us. The two in the middle marred by injury and recovery. We did give up a fair amount to get a player that we let walk by being reactive rather than proactive. Overall, disappointing outcome.

This draft should be a make or break year for JR. He's about 50/50. If he screws this one up, Amy needs to start looking elsewhere. Hopefully he learns from whatever mistakes he's made and he kills it though. I really do like the guy, and I want us to succeed. I just will never understand how he managed to draft the biggest bust in nfl history though when his draft history has always been pretty solid. Makes me think he's just not the guy we thought he was. Then again, it was a weird off-season and people make mistakes, so I'm willing to give him a chance to redeem himself. But he should be on a short leash. It also sucks that none of his first round picks are still on our team, all things considered.

Oh yeah he got schooled alright. Corey Coleman (#15 overall pick) and Shon Coleman (#76 overall pick) were real game changers.

Meanwhile, we got a top 20 player at his position and made it to the AFCCG with him on being a solid contributor to the roster.

No, he’ll get more time than that. He does deserve credit for getting us from the basement to respectable, but another poor draft and I would hope to see changes in our evaluation process. Of course, if Fulton and Evans tear it up this year, then last year’s draft is quality.

And while his 2020 failures are widely recognized, overall he’s built a crap team of the early 2010’s into a regular competitor. 5 straight +.500 season. 3 playoff runs, 2 containing at least 1 win and an AFCCG appearance. He has a long leash and rightfully so.

GM’s aren’t like players either where we can look around the league, anticipate “FA”, and actually say, we can improve if we sign this person. IF JRob were let go, let’s hear the list of “better” and available GMs to rather be hired.

Well if you just look at it like a one trade deal.. but, when you see how he traded for a bunch of picks, then took a couple of those picks to move back up to Conklin, we still came out ahead.

That’s really debatable, at least with the early round picks with what did with the “king’s random”. He’s impressively hit on a few latter rounders. I think the biggest thing he did to change culture was to bring in Vrabel.

but overall the PFF analysis is a fair enough method to evaluate as long as consistently applied.

You have to include in your draft capital equation that we are getting pick 100 for Conklin ...so JRob really moved up from 12 to 8 which is 200 on the trade value chart for 110 which is the difference between 76 and 100....JRob went half price shopping
