you're right.. This is not some modern spread kind of "open" offense. It's just that there is a QB who can execute, receivers who can catch and make YAC, and one of the biggest impact RBs in modern history.. all at once.

all of those were rare at any point past 2003 or so. much less all at once. Tannehill makes guys like Swaim and Firkser legitimate targets. Henry turns a 2 yard run into an 8 yard run routinely. AJB can take a 5 yard pass and turn it into 60 yards.

I'll give the staff credit on using the roster they have, to their potential.

With Jake Locker, Mariota after his first few seasons, or VY after his rookie year.. this team would not look like a well oiled machine. the GM is largely at fault when this team was in the dumps for nearly 20 years, and he gets credit when this team is stacked with skill.

I think Vrabel is an incredible motivator, and that is something that Mularkey, Whisenhunt, Munchak, and late Fisher were sorely lacking.

Hey, you’re the one obsessing with his genitals. When the rest of us hear stiff arm, we’re thinking something different. Like, literally his arm. But, to each his own, I don’t judge.

Low IQ Fisher ball? Do you think Gary Kubiak is a good offensive mind? Most do. This is basically what he ran in Houston. Just the Titans have a better RB. During the Fisher years the most yards Steve McNair threw for was 3300, He averaged 2800 for his career. Thill will get close to 4000 yards this season if he plays all 16. This isn’t even remotely Fisherball. That’s just ... well.... stupid, I guess you would rather them throw the ball 40 times a game and have a running back by committee? How is that working for the Texans?

The offense has elite talent. Our 2003 team was 5th in scoring and 8th in total offense. That despite the fact that Eddie and Wycheck were well past their prime. Fisher had several other offenses that were in the top half of the league. Had we drafted Randy Moss instead Kevin Dyson we would have been elite and won some super bowls.

So you do not understand basic statistics? This team runs the ball 32.4 times a game and throws the ball 30.5 times a game. How many other teams in this league run the ball more than they throw or run as much?

The median team throws 35 passes a game and runs the ball 27 times.

Obviously the league is different today. In 2001 the only team that threw for over 4000 was the St Louis rams. Today 14 teams are on pace to throw for over 4000. I guess all of those 14 OC are geniuses.

The other question that you might ask is if throwing for 4000 yards = winning football. The Chargers, Texans and Falcons are 3, 4 and 5 in passing yards and they are going nowhere.

It's all about QB play, IMO. It changes everything. Smith can open up the playbook where Robiskie (right or wrong) never felt he could ask too much of his QBs.

Add solid receivers to the mix and you get the best Titans offense we've seen for many years—maybe the best since moving to Tennessee.

The attitude by many at Gotitans and other titan sites for 2 decades now has been that the titans needed to throw the ball more and many had this general view that passing the ball was more intellectual and creative and running the ball neanderthal.

Remember when Mike McCarthy was considered an offensive genius? Take away Aaron Rodgers and he is as average as anybody else. McCarthy refused to even interview for the Browns head coaching job because he knew if hired he would be like the wizard behind the curtain and people would know he wasn't anything special. .

What an amazing coincidence that all these genius OC guys have a great QB. Anybody consider Charlie Weis a great offensive mind? Every offense he ran after he left Tom Brady sucked arse.
