Any woulda been better than Darrynton Evans. Not a fan of these guys from BS schools. We still haven't learned from Corey Davis, competition matters.

Yea comp matters which is why Davis vs the few good programs his small school did see went in his favor. And he has every measurable for a WR.

    Same with Byard, and Butler.

And just so you get a little smarter today, know that more players from App State got drafted than FSU. @Fry lol

Evans was a solid find in the 3rd.

Ignoring the weird take, we would have had to take Taylor in the 1st and Dillon or Moss in the 2nd. They should be better than Evans. You are supposed to name better examples that are taken AFTER the pick.

A lot of people are looking at Evans as a guy to take Henry's role and it is pretty clear that he was taken to replace Lewis and ultimately be what they hoped Lewis would be here. And I think he was by far the best option for that role.

I liked Dallas too for us at that point. Think hed have worked out but was less polished than Evans so it works

I would understand the take of getting Taylor in the first if we didn’t get a solid Henry backup. We did. So in turn, we beefed up our line (super important since we only had Kelly and it all starts in the trenches) and still got a way better RB than Lewis. The reality is, we ARE signing Henry to a long term deal. I know some don’t want that, but I’m not so sure how much clearer the team could be about that. I think Taylor will likely be good, but who knows. 31 other teams passed on him until the second, likely because of his fumbleitus. He also has high mileage on his wheels (exactly what people complained about with Henry if I recall).

    I never looked at him.

I basically looked at the top 6 or so guys in case they dropped.

...and I looked at Evans and Josh Kelley from UCLA because they felt what I perceived the team would be looking at out of a RB, both in skillset and draft value.

Kelly looked like a steady runner. I didnt see anything in him that wowed me tho.

But that math always added up with him, which is what you need to stay ahead of the chains.

Hed have been an ok pick too

Yes he had a ton of touches in his 3 years as wisco, and did fumble once every 54 touches. He was also extremely efficient with those touches, AVERAGING 2200yds and 18tds for 3 years. Many knock him for his lack of receptions too but that's just not how wisco rolls. Believe it or not, he is the most targeted college RB per route run of relevant NFL backs in the past 5 years.

Yeah. Block a couple of dudes, catch a few balls, spell Henry for a series, get Kern some room on 3rd down when we are reeling. Nothing special. Just be versatile and reliable.

Honestly thought he was a dude we could look at in the 5th, or trade up a bit to get.

I expected Swift/Dobbins/Edwards-Helaire/Taylor to go around when they were picked. I expected there to be a bigger drop off before teams looked at some guys like Cam Akers and Dillon, so basically everyone outside those 4 guys went about a round higher than I expected.

That chart doesn't mean jack if you don't know the actual numbers....so he was targeted on 33% of the routes he ran...great he ran 3 routes all yr and was targeted 1 time or he ran 300 routes and was targeted 100 time...big difference
