Mariota is a bad qb period.

I am not giving tannehill a multi year deal until I see him play a full season and prove he can stay healthy and continue this high level of play. I would tag him and see how next season goes

My #1 thing with a qb is, can he win a sb. That's it, period. I love what he brought to the team and i think this season was a success, but he doesn't deserve more than a 1 year deal. He folded today, his passes were low and he wouldn't audible out of dumb play calls (or he did audible and he's wrong). Maybe we can fix our little problems and tanny can take us the distance, but it will not be on his shoulders. He was and is a good qb, but not enough to win a sb and that's what this game is about. He needs too much around him to win it all. This team is built for a guy like him to win, but I'm not giving him big money or a long deal. With that said, i will be happy with a 1 or 2 year deal (20-23m), i will be unhappy with anything over 2 years and/or 25m.

i still have more confidence in him than the current alternative

but he's not a long term solution, so we are probably going to be in QB purgatory once again here shortly unless we draft someone that develops well, or overpay in FA

You have to Franshise tag unless he takes a pat cut to stay here.

I didnt see a Super Bowl winning QB out there yesterday. I think you keep him and draft another QB.

Pay cut? We paid him under 2 mil. He is a free agent. He will likely command 25 mill plus on the open market.

The guy had a bad game yesterday. Sure did.

    200+ yards and 2 tds.

It wasnt very long ago when those stats would have had 1000s of people talking about how great our QB8 is (EXTEND HIM) and too bad the rest of the team sucked and couldnt keep up with our incredible QB.

Agree with a couple of caveats...

    1. Henry is the top priority IMO...if we have to say no to Tannehill in order to sign Henry it is what it is....that said, I think that this situation is unlikely.

    2. More realistically, Tannehill is 31 and has been historically injury prone. I would be hesitant to sign for longer than 4 years....tops.

I said this in another thread, but another approach would be to see who of the senior citizen QBs (Brady, Rivers, Brees) may be available for a 1-3 year gig, see what we could sign one of them for, then go QB at all costs in round 1 of the 2021 draft (Trevor Lawrence).

The above is why I am not a NFL GM LOL.
