It's hard to argue that we shouldn't re-sign him. But it's hard for me to believe a guy who has been in the league 8 years is all the sudden going to be a top 10 QB, so hopefully he doesn't expect to get paid like one.

Did you watch the games he played? You would know the story if you did. Awful OK - historically bad. Rotating coaches..

Would you believe me if i told you there was a vast amount (maybe even majority) of knowledgeable Dolphin fans that understood Tannehill REALLY was this good?

He’s not “all of a sudden” good. he was in purgatory playing for the worst OLs, the WORST front iffice, the worst OCs, the worst head coaches and some seasons the WORST “star” WR (im talking you, Mike Wallace)

He was a warrior and class act through it all.

Nope, THill is simply an uber talented, uber ACCURATE qb. If any here think he’s sticking around for a short term “bridge”, you dont get it. One team is going to make RT a rich man with at least a 5yr guarantee. Maybe TN, maybe not.

It’s not required to have a “top 10” QB to win.

Tannehill is good. Our franchise has sucked at drafting/developing QBs.

That’s sounds like easy math to me. Sign Tannehill to be the guy. MM walks, we need another backup. My suggestion on another thread was to see the cost of AJ Mccarron. He’s a FA and after a failed starting opportunity, followed by a quiet backup job, I don’t think he’d be very costly.

    Draft pass rush.

Is Tannehill going to get a deal similar to Foles? His is four-years, $88M.

Foles was a Super Bowl MVP and is a year younger but I think we can expect a deal for Tannehill will be in the four-year, $80-$85M range with most of it guaranteed.

If Tannehill averages $20M a season, he’d rank 19th in NFL QB salary.

I think he gets more than Foles but not to the $30 mil range.

    4 yrs /100 mil.

Probably right. Signing bonus and guaranteed money play into it as well.

You can bet the Jags have regrets signing Foles. They’re stuck with him until 2021 because of the cap hit.

Per PFF, Tannehill has had above average grades almost every year in the league. He always put up big numbers but played with and for terrible teams and coaches.

IMO it would be insane not to just franchise tag Tannehill. The list of players who "broke out" after age 30 and then stayed good is... not long.

Need to see it for another year before I would want to commit. The Jaguars already regret the Foles deal and will be screwed for at least 2020 because of the cap implications of it.

Tag Tannehill and then pay him at this time next next year if he's still playing this well. No reason to rush into this.
