I agree it’s important and I take for granted this guy can snap the s**t out of the ball (probably even under center too but we may never know).

This is the job for kids who want to make money but only sparingly play with minimal impact. Kicker, punter, and long snapper.

Curious, why list him as TE though? Both NFL and college.

To be honest, I didn’t know he started in 2012 til I looked him up.
He gets about 150 snaps per season x 7 seasons now. He just broke 1000 plays. Only 1 was with the offense. Every other snap he’s been on the field for is ST.

So much luck involved for successful onside kicks. The way the ball bounces, who gets blocked, does the receiving team muff it.

The 2 videos I watched of successful onside kicks by Atl were one that no one blocked the ATL player that just ran straight to the ball while NO players just stood up there. The other looked to hit the opposing player and bounced around, which is usually the best you can hope for on an onside kick.

Point being, no matter how well it's kicked a lot has to go right to recover an onside kick so dedicating a roster spot wouldn't be worth it even if it was a play that happened more than a few times a season.

The ATL guys CANT be blocked because the NO players have to hang back to receive the ball. If you could see the first kick, the one that was called back by a penalty, you’d see it was exactly the same as the second one. Clear control by Koo to make it dribble on the ground and then pop into the air right between receiving team players. The speed of the ball was perfect to allow ATL players to get into position. 90% of onside kick attempts are too slow or too fast to reach that 10 yard mark. Koo has just exceptional ball control.

It didnt seem like Kamara or Thomas were too eager to grab the ball knowing they were about to get destroyed.
