Pre-Game Thread Game 9: Titans @ Panthers

Looks like a day we need Henry to shine.

Mccafery is gonna be a problem. Hope we can contain him.

 

Gotta get this offense figured out. Need good drives this time.

 

A total flip flop from the Bucs, high rank in pass defense and low rank in rush defense.

Thats what I was thinking. Their entire offense runs through him.

 

We’re usually good at containing top notch running backs , tight ends and Mike Evans not so much . Lol

 

Where I think we match up best with Carolina:
The run game, on both sides of the ball. Titans rush defense is 12th in the number of yards (96 yards allowed per game) and 4th in rushing score defense (3 rush TDs allowed). McCaffrey is top 5 in rushing yards, and Carolina has the 4th most points off the rush (11 rushing TDs). So, when they have the ball, it will be a back and forth struggle.

Meanwhile, Henry is 9th is rush yards and 9th in rush TDs, while Carolina is 27th in rush defense and has allowed the most rushing TDs on the season (12 rush TDs allowed). So, I think we will have a real chance to get our run game going strong. If we can turn this into a battle of wills at the run game, I think that is our best chance to win.

Where I am afraid of Carolina:
I have loved what Tannehill has shown since he was put into the game. However, a lot of his tight window throws have been to TEs or over the middle ... where LBs are in coverage. I am terrified of him trying that with Luke Kuechly! These other backers have either been too slow to get to the spot or haven't turned their heads and allowed balls to go over them ... Luke will get there and there is a good chance he will get his hands on the ball.

If we get Jackson back on the field, then their pass game doesn't scare me very much. Allen's confidence is shaken, they have allowed the 9th most sacks in the league, and I think we have the players to take a couple away from them. If Sims is covering, his ability to prevent a deep ball when we don't get in the QB's face concerns me. Allen is 4-1 on the year, but is averaging 205 yards per game. We can work with that.

What I expect:
We hold McCaffrey near his average, maybe 125 yards and a score. Henry tops 100 with 2 scores. Titans win 31-17

Real simple. Despite the records we have the better team right now. Tannehill should shine and Henry as well. Defense should be solid against their offense. Just need to keep contain on the edges and force thing inside to our great DL and LBs.
