Mariota can't read a defense, can't deal with even the faintest hint of pressure, can't deliver an accurate pass on a relatively consistent basis. He's a boat anchor of a QB and Tannehill is a massive improvement.

Ear piece aside, QBs have the ability to read the D and change plays themselves. He can’t read a defense so he hasn’t no idea when to change it or what to change it to.

OC doesn’t hold on to the ball too long. That is 100% Mariota. He can’t read blitzes, can’t read his WR routes, can’t anticipate where the WR will be open, has recently had issues hitting the open target, doesn’t throw the ball away, and holds the ball too long while scrambling directly to defenders.
OC can be blamed for some of this, but most of this is basic little league understanding of the game. Once you know the rules, you should be able to get some of this done.

And even if you were correct about listening to his coach’s, his lack of leadership and puberty keep him from saying anything which is ome more reason he’s riding the pine and moving somewhere else.

It’s not ratting to the HC about regression if he’s regressing. Mariota has gone from successful college QB to promising NFL QB to weak HS QB. Dude blows.

So I presume you are saying that Mariota cannot read a defense after the ball is hiked. First of all, the play has already been called by the OC and it's too late to read the defense, Mariota's job is to find an open receiver, it's very hard to do that when you are being blitzed from three different directions and nowhere to go. The Titans are the worst in the NFL at pass protection and a lot of that has to do with their 5 receiver sets resulting in an absence of blockers. Only teams that have a dominating front line would even attempt such a formation and then again they only do it occasionally. The Titans run it practically all the time and they don't have a dominating line. You should expect a lot of sacks, rushed passes, accuracy problems. It's perfectly normal. It's the price you pay when you try to increase your odds of finding an open receiver. You do it at your QBs expense. I have watched football for many years and I have never seen a coaching staff put their QB in harm's way as often as the Titans have. It's almost as if they do it on purpose.

Miami fans considered Tannehill to be mediocre. His winning percentage is below 50%. If you think that he's a massive improvement then you need to look at Mariota's winning percentage and decide if you want to win or lose. Your choice. The last time Tannehill played the bucs was week 16 of the 2018 regular season, his initial drive was impressive resulting in a touchdown, however it would be the only score the dolphins would make. Tannehill was sacked so often that he hurried a pass which resulted in a pic-six. The bucs were all over him. It was perhaps theee game that got him traded to the Titans. Like Mariota, Tannehill needs a good play caller, unfortunately he came to the wrong place.

So tomorrow is a chance for him to prove his critics wrong. If he doesn't we may see Mariota back in the lion's den. The bucs did Tannehill in before and they might just do it again.

We all like MM8 as a player but as a QB he is not the answer. After the game against the Chargers it was proven that it wasn't the WR's. They make plays when given the chance meaning that the difference was Tannehill let that ball go. Accurate and not scared to throw the ball. That's what you want from a QB. Mariota is too worried about throwing a INT.

You truly don't have any idea of what you are talking about. Tannehill is 10x the qb Mariota could even dream to be. I agree with Miami fans about Tannehill being average though. Mariota is just that terrible bad.

Holy Christ... blitzed from 3 different positions and nowhere to go?? You realize in football that is absolutely NOT possible. If he is blitzed from 3 different positions... someone is wide freaking open. Mariota is just too slow to process information and cant identify the blitz or identify his check downs.

I am now putting you on ignore, you clearly know nothing about football.

This explains a lot about your lack of understanding g what’s going on. You absolutely can read a defense before the ball is hiked. It’s preferred actually but if he could read a defense afterwards, he probably be better than he is.

While I agree we don’t really have the line to go 5 wide, you can still read a blitz ahead and make a quick route throw.

The QB is the one standing with the ball looking for open WRs. You should never expect sacks, rushed passes or accuracy problems. You can anticipate some issues but that’s what you’re looking for in a QB, guys that can handle the blitzes, make accurate throws, and avoid taking sacks. Mariota fails at all 3.

Why did tom brady have a worse game than mariota versus the Bill's, a top 5 defense?

What criteria are you looking for here?
    Brady had 150 0/1
Mariota had 183 0/0 but sacked 5 times.

Not only does that help prove my point about his holding the ball too long but both games were awful.
