I think the salary is the bigger deterrent. Again, in a trade deal, we would probably have to pay some/a lot/whatever.

I’m sure in that tier ranking Matt Moore was not put above MM which brings up almost the exact example I was using. Point is, there are teams with hurt starters and could be playoff teams but if a backup has to play for extended amount of time, I could see a trade offer happening (again, with salary at least largely paid by Tennessee) Not saying it’s going to, I’m saying if it does, to take it.

So Derek Carr would be out there. Who knows, maybe we go after Winston. Lol.

So I'm reading that we would get a comp pick if we let Mary walk... What round would that be? May just be better off keeping the bum and taking our comp pick.

From the article regarding those 2 you mentioned

    3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Buccaneers had a decision to make with the No. 1 pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, and they chose Jameis Winston. Like Mariota, the aforementioned No. 2 pick in that draft by the Titans, Winston is playing out the fifth year option on his rookie contract this year and is absolutely not going to be back in Tampa Bay next year. With the increased benefit of hindsight, Tampa Bay needed a young quarterback and was stuck making a decision between two options who were questionable for very different reasons.

For the rest of this season, with only Ryan Griffin and his zero career regular season snaps currently behind Winston on the depth chart, Buccaneers’ head coach Bruce Arians knows he is stuck with his erratic starting quarterback. But a reset under center is coming for 2020, perhaps with a rookie and an experienced veteran in tandem as Arians surely won’t want to commit to a rebuild.

It would be some level of epic trolling on Tampa Bay’s part to, at least theoretically, immediately replace Winston with Mariota. But as they look for veteran options at quarterback next March, Mariota will stand out to some degree.

    4. Oakland Raiders
Despite surprisingly being 3-2 coming off their Week 6 bye, the Raiders don’t have a real commitment to quarterback Derek Carr beyond this season. If he is cut before June 1, 2020, Oakland clears $16.5 million in cap space with only a $5 million dead money hit next year (according to Over The Cap). So the winds of change are blowing, until further notice.

Drafting a quarterback next April feels like a foregone conclusion for Oakland, as they look for some star power with their move to Las Vegas. But adding a cheaper veteran signal caller seems likely too, assuming Carr is not retained.

During the 2015 pre-draft process, as could be expected rooted in the “QB Camp” series he did with quarterback prospects while working for ESPN, Gruden had praise for Mariota.

Now that Mariota has an NFL resume, lackluster as it is, it’s at best unclear if Gruden still thinks highly of him. But the Raiders are in line to have a spot on the depth chart available, and that’s enough to tie Mariota to them right now.

I really hope we trade Mariota to the Bears , just read that his old head coach Helfrich from Oregon is the OC . That would be his best shot at getting back on track . He’s a great kid and he deserves it . I will ALWAYS have his back .

Yep, his salary is the absolute killer. Unless we were willing to eat most of his salary, which why would we do that?

No team in their right minds (excluding the Titans) is going to pay Mariota 20mil to be the lame duck he has been.

Hopefully Gruden is stupid enough, but I seriously doubt it. Gruden wasnt the only one who thought Mariota had an NFL future... we drafted him after all.

Well that says we should sell Mariota, no doubt about it, but doesn't say if anyone would actually buy Mariota.

thats like saying I have a broken down pinto for sell. Sure, if someone is willing to give me cash, they can tow it home, but first I have to find someone willing to pay for a broken down pinto.
