Everything in this post is not true. But just keep making stuff up. Someone will believe you!

Everything in my post is common knowledge. You’re the only one on this board who doesn’t believe it. And I’m fine with that. This thread is littered with GIF’s of 8 missing wide open receivers. And even more examples on Twitter that aren’t hard to find. And if you think the WR’s aren’t getting fed up with it, then idk what tell you.

Oh I’m not married to any scenario, I’m just positing a possibility in response that there ARE scenarios out there in which Mariota could be moved.

In my mind it’s simple now.

    1. Mariota improves the remainder of the games gets a very minor extension.
    2. Mariota doesn’t get an extension (injury or otherwise) and hits the market end of this year.
    3. Mariota gets moved and Tannehill finishes year.
    4. If #3 and we make playoffs, Tannehill gets extension.

Tannehill being here is a reflection of JRob’s confidence in 2-4 and lack of confidence in #1.

It's common knowledge that I'm the only person who thinks Mariota will be re-signed? Where does that come from? go ahead and quote me on this.

    I'll wait...

It's common knowledge that Mariota can't read a defense and can only make 1 read passing plays? Considering there is ample evidence to prove otherwise during his career, you might want to choose more carefully who you repeat as you are now repeating nonsense. This might be a common misconception of those who don't like Mariota, but it's wrong.

8 missing wide open wr's? In which game? Were those guys the primary read? Or is this one of those things where you show Corey Davis wide open after his defender fell down...but Mariota was already in the act of throwing the ball somewhere else? I looked over the plays Mike Herndon posted if that's what you're referring to and happy to discuss any of them.

Are the receivers getting frustrated at themselves for dropping passes and running the wrong route? Should the QB get frustrated when guys give up free rushers to crush the qb? Should Mariota get frustrated when he has some pass plays open but he can't get them the ball because we gave up too much pressure?

Should the offense get frustrated at the coach for going away from the plays that were working and go back to some plays that were not? Should the team be frustrated that Vrabel inexplicably let the playclock run down when we were gonna punt (while we were losing and needed to save as much time as possible)?

Lots of frustration to go around.

But a lot of what you think is common knowledge...isn't. Especially when it's wrong.

Mariota did clock the ball on 3 and 2 w/ 16 seconds left. OL didn’t have anything to do with that.

I agree but I think that ONLY starts with 1 of 2 things. He gets hurt for a few weeks and then tannehill comes in and plays very well...or Mariota plays poorly (for how long is up to GM/owner how long a leash he has) for some period of time.

I don't think other teams are dying to trade for him and I think Brave is probably correct. Most likely scenario would be around week 8. mariota's contract is then small enough and a team thinking they need him for the stretch run. But then fewer teams will need him too.

We'll see what happens. But in the meantime...we need to obliterate the Jags!

So let's play it out. The 2nd down play was a 7-8yd passing play and from snap to spike took 17 seconds. So let's say instead of spiking the ball on 3rd down, we run the slants play then for a similar 7 yard gain and we don't get a chance to spike the ball since there isn't enough time left. At least with the spike, Smith had an opportunity to dial up a play that gave us a shot at 10-15 yards and got us out of bounds for a realistic fg try. Why run slants there when there isn't enough time!

The playcalling the last 8minutes on offense was not good. Especially the 2min drive! The first play of the two minute drive was a 4 yd pass to DW who wasn't close to the sideline. That also ran off about 17 seconds. That's bad playcalling and bad clock management by the coaching staff.

But those play calls were all made by the QB, right?

As I said, plenty of blame to go around. I don't have as much problem with the spike as I do that the playcalls were bad and the spike was useless since it didn't result in a better playcall. You don't like that and some of Mariota's other play during the game, I get it and agree as I said in my assessment of the game. But there was a lot of players making mistakes. We need 1...maybe 2 plays to be made and had about 15 chances to make them. No one did on offense, defense, or special teams. And throw the coaching staff in there as well!

Mariota even said it was a bad decision on his part. I don’t want to debate it, but the summary is this. You spike on 3 and 2 rather than having a quick out or even a design run to the sideline for 3 yards and you spend MAYBE 5 seconds. You either have 4 and 2 with 10 seconds or you have 1 and 10 with 10 seconds. The latter you get a chance to advance the ball further before the kick. With the latter, if you fail to get the 1st down, you have another shot at it to get the first and advance the ball.

Spiking it on 3 and 2 was the wrong choice. And Mariota even said so.

Was he told to do that from the coaches? I don't know but I was so mad about it. There was so many coaching blunders by Vrabel in that game. What is it about divisional games that makes him tighten up and lose his aggressiveness? Should have not punted it away and went for it on 4th on the 2nd to last possession.

He was not. Mariota said he decided to do it. He also said it was the wrong thing to do, so at least he owned it.
