lol how old are you? how long have you watched football?
famous, popular, good looking players with cool names are the championship winners. Its not a supposed conspiracy. Its a simple business fact of a multi-billion entertainment business.

Ah, and now you've changed from commercials equals wins to Uniforms equals Super Bowls? Why?

i didnt change from anything. The point is theres multiple factors and the Titans dont get any of them in their advantage. they get the occasional early exit playoff and nothing more. its not hating, its not trolling, its not conspiracy. Its a understanding of a entertainment business.

Thank you for acknowledging that he was EFFECTIVE!!!

So according to you, every offense should simply run pa one read plays since ANY qb should be 'effective' in that situation, right? So why aren't all NFL qb's effective since every offense COULD do what you suggest?

So when Mariota throws 3 TD's, he's just there. But when he does his job and throws a perfect pass and a wr drops it costing us a TD, it's how come he doesn't have more TD passes? LOL

You can't make up your mind what is important, his play, or the stats. When he plays well and doesn't have the stats, you only care about stats. When he has the stats, you complain he didn't play well enough because it was too easy!!!

And you wonder why people see you as a hater. No matter what he does, you complain it's not good enough.

How would you rate our pass protection and our special teams since you said the team besides Mariota was excellent! Did we have excellent pass pro across the board? Did Henry have giant holes to run thru in every quarter? Did we have big kick and punt returns?

And for a guy complaining about small sample sizes, you seem to think one game of third down stats (2/9) can be used to judge the effectiveness of the offense...which still put up a lot of points! So which would you prefer...a high percentage on 3rd down and not score enough points (which is what you complained about all off-season) or be happy we scored a bunch of points to win the game and work on getting better at 3rd down while getting the W's?

Your thought process is that Mariota and Tannehill will have no suitors who will offer them starting money so why should we?

As I said before, the market for the last 20 years in the NFL tells you that you are wrong in your assessment because QB contracts are going thru the roof and most of those are not earned. Similarly, why would the Titans have paid Marcus $20mil this year if there were plenty of other QB's around? If Tannehill is the plan for 2020, why isn't he starting and why didn't they sign him to a deal which pays him backup money this year and escalates to starter money in 2020 and beyond?

They are due to supply and demand and there is simply not enough supply for the league atm. But let's not argue that obvious point. No GM in the league who feels his team is on the cusp of a real playoff team is gonna low ball his QB and HOPE a backup can also be signed for cheap (low ball him to?)...again this is based on the premise that Mariota plays well this year.

If you low ball Mariota, are we expecting to re-sign Tannehill to a backup level contract? If you take that route, Titans will not be his preferred destination. For one...many teams will need backup qb's and why would you want to be paid as a backup hear when someone might pay you more somewhere else,,,but even if they didn't, you could play hear for backup money...produce like Mariota...only to be lowballed by the Titans?

Your scenario most likely means no Mariota and no Tannehill on the Titans in 2020. If that's the case, who's playing QB for the Titans in 2020?

GM's get fired for making mistakes like this. Plus, no QB on the roster that can start means you'll get fleeced in any trade situation as EVERYONE will know you are desparate. Not a good idea, man.

If they were gonna low ball him, they would have done it last off-season where they can try and sign him for less based on his lower stats. If he has good stats and you low ball him and Tannehill goes somewhere else...what would YOU do to fill our starting QB role in 2020?

So he had good stats in quarter 1. Did they give up then?

He was PERFECT in the entire second half. Were they trying them?

You can't argue that he didn't throw the TD passes so you try and insult him saying they were easy...but that wasn't what we're talking about. You said HE was BAD for most of the game. How can you be bad when you don't miss a pass for an entire half and the first quarter was also good?

Whether a play was easy or not, if he executes the play and hits every pass...that is the DEFINITION of EFFECTIVE!!!

So if throwing a pass for a TD was a gimme...why would you want the offense to have done something else? Easy TD's should be the FIRST thing we go for!

If they knew they were moving on from Bortles, why did they sign him to an extension that would cost them a $16mil dead cap charge to cut him this season? If they KNEW they were getting Foles and wanted him, why waste the extra money and cap hit on Bortles? Simply because they can't know for sure until Foles is actually available. The Eagles went back and forth about it.

How many teams showed interest in Foles? I'm not his agent so I don't know...do you? But if there arenot enough landing spots for starters in this league so teams can lowball the Mariota's of the world, why didn't Foles get lowballed? For a guy with his stats and injury concerns, he got a hell of a lot of money! Why if the league has so many good QB's?

I'd imagine a lot of teams would be interested in Foles as a backup qb...but then why would the Jags compete against themselves to pay him big money (for his stats/injuries, ect)? Shouldn't they have lowballed him and paid him like $10mil/yr with maybe $15mil sb? He'll avg double that in annual value and his guarantees on signing are basically $45mil! Why sign him to that contract when no one else wanted him to start?

He's the perfect example of a team paying what they think is a fair market price...even if they have no competition.

Summary...teams that could need a qb in 2020 are TB, Panthers, Broncos, Raiders, Bengals, Colts, and Dolphins. That's SEVEN teams. Will they all need new QB's? Probably not. But it could certainly be 5+!
Could also see potential retirement from NE, Pitt, Saints, Chargers opening up a spot or two.
Any number over 2 and we'll have competition for Mariota. ANY single team that doesn't pick high would be competition for Mariota (since they won't be in rebuilding mode).
As a backup, Tannehill could have a dozen or more suitors so he'll have job offers elsewhere for backup money he could take over our situation.

Details if you want to read them...

The problem with your theory is this all looks fine on paper when you remove injuries and the human element out of it. But...

What if Brady wins another SB and decides to retire and they don't think Stiddam is ready? Possible destination.

What if Josh Allen doesn't play well this season and they decide to bring in a Vet for competition. Didn't we just do that? possible landing spot for Marcus or Tannehil as a backup.

What if Darnold doesn't play well after he comes back from mono? The HC is gonna be under a lot of pressure to get W's...same as Buffalo.

Keep in mind, since these guys ARE on new rookie deals, teams aren't glued to them financially and can bring in a vet with starter money without wrecking their cap.

Dolphins likely take a top 5 guy...but also could want a vet backup like Tannehill to tutor and or start in case the rook isn't ready.

Texans may want a vet backup and Watson has been very banged up. Could need a backup next year.

Jags need a vet backup now! Could really need one in the off-season!!!

Colts don't look like a team that's bad enough to pick high enough for a qb. Definitely a possible landing spot for a starting QB and or a backup!

Big Ben is signed thru 2021, but has also talked about retiring for the last 3-4 years. If they have a down year due to AB and Lev Bell being gone...maybe he takes his money and retires. Would he want to stick around for a rebuild?

Lamar Jackson looked awesome in week 1 but hasn't it been an NFL rule that you can't survive at QB having a run first qb? High injury risk!

Bengals - Dalton will be in his last year. Do they want him to be a $17mil+ cap hit next year? If they cut him, no dead money and $17+mil cap space! Do they keep him? Probably not. Good chance he gets cut and they go in another direction. If they pick high enough, they draft a qb. If not, probably looking for a new starter and maybe draft someone in round 2-4 to develop while they hope for the best. Potential landing spot.

Raiders - definitely a potential landing spot. Carr has been overpaid for a while and hasn't looked good in recent years. If he doesn't play well, the Raiders could free up $16+mil by cutting him and signing someone else and/or let Mayock/Gruden draft a new guy! Potential landing spot.

Broncos likely to take a high pick or sign a new vet starter. potential landing spot.

Chargers -Rivers is a free agent. Time to move on? Potential landing spot as they won't pick high enough to draft a guy to start next year and if Rivers doesn't come back...potential landing spot.

Eagles and Dallas are definitely backup QB landing spots.

Saints are potential landing spot if Brees retires. No idea what Bridgwater is gonna be yet so they'd be in play if Brees goes.

Panthers are definitely a realistic possibility for a backup and a vet starter! Cam has been hurt and is still playing hurt. His stats have not been what people expect and the Panther save quite a lot of cap room if they cut him! Mariota has a higher career qb rating and a higher qbr the last 3 years. And that's not even taking into account Mariot improving on his own numbers a good bit!

TB - Likely top 5 pick...but also could take a vet qb as backup or to start if they don't pick high or need a vet backup to hold the fort until the rook is ready.
