We're not lucky enough for that to happen. That kinda thing happens to Indy or Pittsburgh.

Bust is the wrong word for Luck's situation. "Wasted" is more like it. He spent his prime playing for the worst owner-gm-head coach combo in the NFL outside the Browns. The Colts went cheap on OL, and Luck took the most total hits (sacks + knockdowns) of any QB in the NFL for 3 straight seasons before his body started breaking down.

Also it's a little weird to blame Luck for pre-draft hype he had nothing to do with creating beyond being a top college player. Which, you know, is what he was supposed to do! Fraudulent draft experts overhype (and bury) people who don't deserve it every year. Most of it is just white noise.

    Not a bust
    Not a disappointment
    Just unfortunate

To me a bust is someone that doesn't live up to draft position due to play not injuries.. injuries are part of the game, no matter how little or how big they are

Lawrence won't be a 10-15 year vet, he's already said football is not the important thing to him...he'll retire 7-8 years in as well

We're going to see more and more "get in-get out" players.

I think you're right, the risk of injury is too great. Make millions over a short period of time and get out.

well...the vast majority retire and are bankrupt within a few years (78 percent or so). Combine that with the MILLIONS aren't seen except by the top drafted players (rounds 1-2), until the second contract. I don't know...don't get me wrong....even the lowest paid NLF'er should be well on his way to financial security after 5 years or so....just doesn't seem to work out that way.

Not just risk of injury... more knowledge of injuries and the aftermath.

I'm curious if this "type" of player would've reared its head earlier if the knowledge of injuries was more prevalent "back in the day".
