I have only witnessed one person in my entire life squat 4 plates on each side, 405lbs, and the bar looked like it was bending on his shoulder. It was 1 rep. This guy was a football player on the team, Oregon, he was built like a lineman. I will be impressed if someone post a video of them doing that.

As a freshman in college and one of the few times I ever squatted, I maxed out at either 455 or 475. I was 6' 185 ish then, very athletic, but by no means a weight lifter, still seemed to impress the friends i was with. No chance i could do that now however, the only exercise Ive done the last few years were 12oz curls. And that was killing my liver, so i dont even do that anymore.

Just knowing how hard 450+ was, I find it really hard to believe someone smaller then me managed more than double the weight. Especially considering only a handful of people on the planet ever squatted a 1000 lbs.

really hard to believe? No, it is impossible to believe because it is absolutely not true.

He may have squatted 300lbs while his 4 buddies (spotters) lifted the other 700lbs.

Well, there are outliers to everything but rationally speaking lets just consider something like the "average" athletic person who was a former whatever sport in college or high school. Lets say said person is about 200lbs now from regular weight lifting. Even doubling that weight to 400 pounds on a squat puts a lot of pressure and stress on one's joints, knees, back, etc. Add 200 to get to 600 more pounds and that is just so much more! There's a point you have to think, "why the F do you want to even risk the potential injury?" I am not saying JCB is a liar but like I said I will be impressed if there's a video showing 4 plates on each side being squatted.

0% chance that is real. Literally 0. The world record is, what, 1200lbs? So you’re saying he was only 200lbs off that as high schooler? I’m pretty gullible, but I would never believe anything that stupid haha.

    This is accurate

1000lbs total was on the bar. 5 spotters in place in case of trouble. The guy in back probably did assist some. Even with help, who here is squatting anything near that...?
