Future of Henry

CD, Walker, Brown, and Humphries. Defenses are going to have to respect our passing game regardless of what you think about our current QB situation. The running game SHOULD really open up now.

 

I have changed my thinking on RB's as the NFL has become more and more a QB's League. There are very few rb's that should get that second, big dollar contract. Most RB's are rented mules....ride em hard, then rent another one. That being said, as long as Henry doesn't want TOP rb money I would be good with giving him a second contract.

 

If Henry has 4 games like he did last year vs Jacksonville and NYG, where the offense had to do absolutely nothing other than hand the ball to him, be consistently productive,and we're still having issues at QB, he should be extended.

 

A lot of it will have to do with the Mariota situation too. If we're rolling with a rookie next year, it makes more sense to pay Henry. If Mariota gets a big new deal, we gotta save money somewhere, And rb is a logical place to do that. Especially if we have to use multiple picks to secure said rookie.

The other thing that concerns me about Henry is... He pretty much sucked until he flipped a switch last year. He strikes me as a possible guy that money will make complacent, and he goes back to sucking.

Who’s more important? Henry, Conk/Kelly+? Or Mariota?

 

Do we build up a great team core and plug in a QB, or do we build up a team around a $25M+ Mariota minus Henry/Conk/Ryan/etc and run with that?

 

I'm looking forward to seeing which Henry we get this year. I think it's just as likely he reverts back to his "pre-Eddie-talk" self, as it is that he runs with abandon. I don't understand how a peptalk can make such a difference. If you don't have it IN you, then how are you going to KEEP it when someone hands it to you?
