Jennings over Sharpe for sure. When you're that low on the roster you need to make some good ST plays and he's shown to be one of the better KR guys.

Seems more like a “Early but appropriate time for 53 man roster predictions” rather than a way to early type of thing. Lol

Yeah...that's why I have him starting. He was one of the more plug and play ready wr's in this draft class. Combine that with our lack of established #2 from last year and his work ethic, I think they likely start him at #2.

However, the equation is Brown vs Taylor vs Humphries starting at #2 wr. Sharpe is not in the running. Sharpe is fighting for a roster spot with #4 his ceiling atm.

Yeah...but 9 OL is less depth than you'd want. And since Conklin is coming off multiple injuries...it's an issue. Plus, I think they signed Grasu to see if he and Levin could push Jones. Levin and Davis will probably backup the OG spots and depends on where Levin and Grasu end up on the OC depth chart.

I started with 9 but having Levin cover two spots gets dicey.

Same situation at DL. Johnson is our main NT and not even sure of that. Liner is a big NT and could be one of those unknown guys who gets snaps at NT. If I take Liner off we only have Jones who can kind of play NT.

The flip side to this argument...and one Brave will make any second...is that we don't play base that much so who needs a NT. Some teams will take advantage of that if we don't have a NT. If Urban can also play NT, Liner or Johnson is gone and we carry one main NT. This is better because I don't like having 2 roster spots for 2 guys who will likely only have to cover 30 snaps a game tops.

What other DB would you add? Between Cruiks, Hooker and our #4 and #5 cb's, and our #4, #5, and #6 wr's...I think we have man small special teamers than we need. So what do I need a 6th cb or 3rd string S for?

I replaced Bates with Long. But we are more likely to need a 3rd OL or a 2nd string NT than a 4th string DB who won't play ST or see the field.

Or we drop Liner and add Bates or the best ST not on the roster.

LOL! Backup 330lb NT though he might be able to beat out Johnson. Has Urban played NT? He's only on there because I don't need more small ST players and was worried about NT since Jones is really the only other guy I see who can play it. Even though base D is a smaller percentage, when are we gonna need a 6th CB. A backup NT might actually get some snaps. Or an 10th OL to make sure we are two deep across.

If Urban can play some NT I'd cut Liner...but who to add who will see playing time or be a 2nd string backup...or a better ST player?

Bates is our special teams captain and most experienced ST player. He's not going anywhere. Also, having 9 olineman isn't a problem at all. Ill bet you moolah we don't keep 10 of them for the 53.

I do agree that another d liner could probably be utilized better, just not dee liner lol.

Yeah, that's why I changed my intial roster to include Bates over Long. But I guess it depends on how Long and Bates look in training camp. If Bates makes the roster I doubt Long makes it to and probably goes practice squad. Also considering we're in Nickel a lot, we aren't gonna carry more than 5 total ILB's and may only have 4 (with the top 3 being set at Woodyard, Evans and Brown).

We'd like to keep 9, but I want to see if Conklin is 100%. Also depends on what happens at RG and OC.

But again, we'd like to take another DL...but who? The last 3-4 spots are gonna be depth for scheme and how good we feel depth-wise at certain positions. Some positions other players can carry...like we could go with more 2 wr sets if we lost a wr or 2. Or go more 3 wr sets if we lose our #2 TE.

    Bates isnt good

    Long should take his job

Bates is not some ST Ace, more like a 7 of clubs. We can upgrade that role with Long taking over

There’s a problem in this scenario regardless, and that’s his 5th yr option decision after maybe only playing 2 yrs. it’s gonna be a big number, and if they can come to some sort of deal to “redshirt” him while also paying him we could actually take advantage of him not accruing a season of play.
