Can Taywan Taylor still be a factor?

It won't be given but its fair to assume that Taylor and Sharpe have more pressure on them to prove their worth than a 2nd round pick that Jrob and the staff felt was a surprise to still be on the board at 51. They drafted AJ for a reason. It has everything to do with what's lacking in Taylor and Sharpe. Its AJs spot to lose.

I think we'll see some Taylor on the outside and Brown in the slot.

I, like most people, expect our wr's to be CD, Brown and Humphries in the slot. I expect Taylor to backup Humphries and possibly Brown. But once you get knocked down to #4 or #5 wr, you better be playing special teams at a needed level or you may get bypassed by another wr o9n game day or worse - on the roster. Right now, Taylor and Sharpe are fighting to be on the roster! If I was Taylor, I'd be practicing catching punts and kickoffs and working equally hard on my special teams value as my wr skills (especially his hands).

He's got big play potential but he'll have far less opportunities unless there is an injury to the top 3. We tend to rotate a lot of players so we'll see some backup play to spell the starters....but a lot less than he had last year. Brown and Humphries catch wr screens well so I expect we'll see Taylor in the slot spelling Humphries more or if we give Walker a break on 3rd and really long (12-15+)...maybe 4 wr but I don't see that much at all. And quite frankly, if I'm the Titans I do what the Rams do...stay in a 3wr formation 95% of the time because it puts our best personel on the field and forces the defense to try and pick their poison. Pass against their base D with our 3 wr's and walker or run against their nickel with Henry!

If our wr's stay healthy and he's just in a backup role, I think he'll have less impact (fewer catches and yards but maybe more TD's) unless he can play special teams and return kicks/punts. Short of that, not expecting a lot.

But this is the NFL and people get hurt all the time. He's a nice depth player to have behind our current 3 or if Brown doesn't pick up the playbook fast enough.

Can he...yes! Will he, most likely not unless more opportunities arise.

Two things to consider. First, not sure how many wr's we had up every game last year but he better be playing special teams well if he expects to be active on game days. If he's not playing special teams, they probably activate someone who will.

Second, I don't see Davis' targets going up to 160 for the season adding Walker, Brown and Humphries. Figure our top trio getting about 20-25 targets with another 5-10 going to Walker, rb's, backup wr's. If we live in a 3 wr set as the Rams do, these will change!

Sorry, the ball hit him in his hands without him having to leave his feet or catch it off his shoelaces and not contested. That is the definition of a bad drop. You can criticize the throw all you want, but from a catching perspective, the drop is ALL on the wr as this should be caught 10/10 times. We're not talking about him diving with max extension and trying to catch the end of the ball with his fingertips...this is an easy catch!

Must you try and turn every thread not about our QB into a bash the qb thread?

You can't coach players to run better routes and set up db's to get open??? What do you think WR coaches do...sit around and yell at the QB because they can't improve the wr's? LOL

Of course. When Mariota makes a bad throw...criticize Mariota for missing a wide open guy. THAT'S on him. When he throws a ball that hits the wr in both hands and he drops it, that's on the receiver.

I think he does need to have better chemistry and does with Davis and Walker. He'll need to develop that with Brown and Humphries too. I think he lost some confidence in Taylor after some big drops. Need to get that back!

Should be some great competition on the team this OTA/TC.

Brown will play 10 games and have 30 catches for 400 yds and 2 TDs at most. I don't know where you guys get off acting like he's gonna blow up for a Rook when we cant even get more than 65yds/gm from our #5 overall WR.

Davis, Walker, Humphries and Deion will have 80% of our catches this year.

It all depends on health. We all know what happened his rookie and last year he suffered from inconsistencies at the qb position due to injuries and an OC that felt the need to be more conservative because of it.

Yeah. We've had around 300 catches each of the last 3 years. And we probably won't have much more than that if we run the ball well and play good defense and control some games.

Delanie and Davis are probably going to have 50-75 tops. Like 125 between them.
Humphries and Lewis probably going to have 30-65 tops. Like 95 between them.
    Brown probably about 25-50.
    Taylor about 10-40.
Maybe 60 between Brown and Taylor.

Then random dudes fill in the rest.

And Tajae will have like 19 catches for the Packers or Jets or Bucs or someone after we cut him.
