From the film I've watched on him, he can fill a few spots for us. First, he'll be a good special teams player. He's got good speed and is a good tackler and is a passionate football player. You don't really see him take plays off. Second, I do see him filling in some sub package matchups. Right now I think he's best in zone...especially as a robber or a short zone dropper. He reads route combos really well and gets good jumps on balls in front of him. We had 2 guys who could matchup on TE's and quick rb's (KB and Brown) but KB was also our best deep middle S. This could allow us to keep KB back and move Hooker into a short zone or man up a rb or TE. I expect him to get some picks if he gets snaps here in short zone between the numbers. But he could certainly also develop into a starting S as he learns behind KB and Vaccaro. He's a good player and should help immediately on special teams...but might be a main stay in sub packages in 2020.

The funny thing with that is...if he misses his first year and plays great for the next 9 compared to playing 4, missing a year and then playing another 5...they come out the same but the perception is very different.

If you accept that we are drafting for the next decade, how do you give him a C? Who would you have taken at #19 and in the third round?

I have no dog in the fight actually. My perception is they double downed and gambled. Who I would have taken makes no difference on the outcome. Grading it a C is more like a placeholder... no more or less than grading it an A would be. Presumptuous. If he busts, and the rest the draft sticks... it’s not gonna be magically worse than a C.

It’s not a hardline future “I told you so!” bait either

The third round pick didn’t bother me, I was trolling folks who would read that-that were active in SB during the draft.

Our 1st round picks always get injured during their rookie season.

Davis and Evans miss around 8 games.

Yeah last year we gave up way too much when we moved KB out of the middle. That's what I'm hoping the team can avoid this year.

Let’s not forget that we used a 6th this year for Correa and a 7th for Tannehill so factor in a more than capable platoon pass rusher and the best backup QB in the league to this draft class.
