Gabbert's status showed itself week-2 when the coaches did everything in the world to mitigate Gabberts presence. Then week-3 it was just too much for him to process and he gets KO'd of the game.

And the final game vs Indy was classic Bortles, I mean Gabbert. Put the ball in his hands and watch him give it to the other team.

The ONLY impressive thing Gabbert did last season was out run JJ Watt to keep a drive alive.

Your expectations are a bit high. I think GB scored 0 points and gave up a defensive TD in the game and a half that Rodgers was out. I'd say the drop off to Gabbert was less severe. In fact, I'd say he outplayed MM against Miami, Indy, and Washington when he played in relief.

Personally, I'd rather have a backup like Gabbert. He won't take up cap space that we can roll over and pay long term contributors, and we can tank and draft another QB if he's forced to play extensively. Paying $31M or so for two mediocre QBs is just bad business. If our backup has to play more than one game, Mariota is gone. And winning enough games to be out of a prime spot to draft a QB yet not good enough to go anywhere in the playoffs is useless, which is probably what a backup of similar quality to Mariota would give us.

Nothing in life is guaranteed. We tank and have to endure a miserable season and we're back to 2012, no thanks.

After watching countless QB's from Jake Locker to Paxton Lynch bust Ive learned not to count on the draft to give you a sure thing.

Id rather build the strongest roster top to bottom and compete every week, every year. We may not have reached the ultimate destination last year but it was at least fun for all 17 weeks.

Just get a solid #2 QB and we're probably in the playoffs.

It depends on the class. 2020 already has 2 QBs who likely would have been taken before any this year.

We went 2-1 with Gabbert. The other 6 losses came at the hands of our starter. That position is more important to upgrade than the backup, IMO.

using that 2-1 record pretty loosely considering he was knocked out of one of those wins 10 minutes into the game.

Titans arent bad enough to be drafting high enough to secure one of those 2 QB's

You think Mike Vrabel is gonna bend over this year to get a top 3 pick?

O line being addressed this offseason. Signed 2 free agents and drafted Nate Davis. I anticipate drafting another. Yup, coaches know the line last year wasn't good.
