I know mock drafts aren't 100% indicators of what's going to happen, but they can give us a good idea of the range where someone will go. The consensus seems to be he goes right around where we pick. In fact, I've seen more mock drafts with him making it past the Titans pick than I have seen with him in the top 10.

He's 23 and will be good from day 1. It's not like he's 25 and a project who may not get it or you may get nothing out of his rookie contract while he develops. Wilkins will be good from day 1 so to me this doesn't matter at all. And some maturity/leadership would be good for when Casey leaves or retires.

Plus most don't hit their athletic prime til 27 so...no worries on his age IMO.

Mocks can be all over the place. A couple of things to consider in the mocks where he fell PAST us is...how many QB's went ahead of us and who did we take?

The player that will make the running game and passing game more effective is Chris Lindstrom G Boston College. If you look at Senior Bowl 1 on 1 practice tape, he looked better than Bradbury and other interior lineman.

Mariotta struggles when lineman are knocked back in this face Lindstrom is strong with advanced technique to hold up at point of attack and has quickness. 4.9-40 at 305lb.

My mock draft looks like this:
    19 - Chris Lindstrom G 6'4 308 Boston College
56 - LJ Collier OLB 6'2 280 Texas Christian (can go to DE on 3rd down)
82 - Tyrese Jackson QB 6'7 250 Buffalo (Senior bowl MVP; has a gun)
    121 - Jaylon Hurd WR 6'5 227 Baylor
    157 - Jimmy Moreland CB 5'10 180 James Madison
    198 - Derrick Roberson 6'3 245 OLB Sam Houston St 4.58/40

Amen to that. My issue with taking an interior OL in the first is that first round guards and centers can be such a crapshoot to evaluate (Chance Warmack and Jonathan Cooper were supposed to be 10+ year starters), and they only effect the game so much. Sure they can hurt your team by sucking, but when's the last time a guard blew a play wide open and won the game?

Investing a high pick on a guy where you might be able to find someone nearly as good in the mid-rounds just doesn't make any sense to me. Plus we might even have a better in house replacement by moving Conk to guard and playing Kelly at tackle.

I'd be more ok with a center, but definitely not a guard.

With regards to the first round,in general stay away from players from Clemson, West Virginia and Florida State, these three universities have provided more 1st rd bust's than any other schools.

I was referring to our first round pick. He's great value in the 2nd. Its still no secret though that we have an abundance of slot receivers. Taylor the only burner and he can't catch.
