We need both edge and interior pass rush guys....you draft whichever of those is the best player available....if 2 guys are close then you look at the depth of the draft and ask yourself which position you will more likely be able to fill later in the draft.

I would rather get a dominating interior guy if one is available....tough to find that guy who can stuff the run and get great pocket push.

We had the #3 scoring defense. Yet improving the defense should be top priority? Sorry if I can't totally agree with that.

They sucked and were inferior to the players replacing them. Not to mention Wake, who is a huge improvement over them.

You know what helps the pass rush? When your offense isn't trash and constantly putting you in a hole and leaving you on the field. The opposing offense can just run the ball and execute a quick passing game (as illustrated by the <15 yard passes from Luck) and negate the pass rush, because t here is no urgency to push the ball down the field. Big difference between that game and wwhen we pulled ahead of NE and were able to go to town on Brady.

yeah offense helps the pass rush.... listen to yourself

even if the offense turned the ball over every play our rushers should be able to... you know... actually get pressure. but they cant. we need upgrades.

Yet we had the #3 scoring defense. While the offense was horrible.

Pittsburgh and KC led the league in sacks. Both were in the bottom half of the league in scoring defense.

We and NE ranked in the bottom half of the league in sacks. We were #3 in scoring defense, they we're #7'

Pass rush is not the basis for a good defense. It absolutely elevates it, but we can't through 1st round pick after 1st round pick on defense like Pitt , NE, or GB can. We have a mediocre QB who needs to have a lot of help, so we've invested a lot in the players around him. We need to see more out of that investment instead of focusing on what amounts to nitpicking about the defense

not having a starter is nitpicking?

how much we score on defense has NOTHING to do with the need for edge right now.

we are ATROCIOUS at getting to the passer and have 2 good young QBs in the division with us. if we just sit by and not address it in the best EDGE/PassRush class in years, we'd be pretty dumb.

Yeah. We had a good bend, but not break defense. At times we got picked apart. We didn't make a lot of big plays. Watching us, it is obvious that we had to blitz to get pressure.

I don't see how you can argue that adding a play maker (if we can find one) wouldn't be a massive benefit.
