Yeah, I’d be perfectly fine with that choice. I do think we need interior presence arguably more than pass rush. We lost loser Bennie Logan...and all we have is Casey because everyone else sucks at DT for us. I wouldn’t be shocked to see us go there first, but we all know that DE/OLB is a premium position, and I’m still not ruling out offense since we were so wretched last year....

I dont see anyone on offense that would make us immediately better. Maybe fant, if they know DW is toast.

But a front seven stud, a DT stud in particular, and we could be #1 defense in the league good. Assuming the rush game delivers, we could be a legit contender in a fairly weak afc.

Defense and run game is a good playoff recepie.

First step to beating the Colts is to trick Quentin Nelson into appearing in a Cardi B spoof IG vid.

Guys who could potentially instantly help on offense...
    OC Bradbury
    TE Hockenson
    TE Fant
    WR Marquise Brown
    WR Metcalf
    WR AJBrown
    WR Parris Campbell

I think given all players graded equally, they take an EDGE or DT. And when they aren't graded equally, the best EDGE and DT's are ahead of the best offensive players...but by pick 19...we may very well be looking at the highest graded playerS on the board being offense. Which is why if we truly want one of the best EDGE or DT's, we may have to take a jump to get them. I also wouldn't be surprised if we moved back in this draft considering it's defensive depth.

Hockinson won't make it to 18.

Bradbury? I don't want a first round center.

Fant? Possible, if DW is not recovering well.

Any of the WR are unlikely to contribute much immediately. We've seen that show a dozen times.

DT or Edge is the play. But it does depend on how things shake out above us. If all the defense studs go, it would make sense to take an offensive guy.

But I wager the opposite will happen. The offense guys will have a run first, and we will have several good defense options.

Bradbury is an excellent OC and upgrading the interior OL helps our run game and our pass game. Not the sexiest pick...but effective.

I don't think Hockenson is there...but he could be. TE is a very specific position and usually undervalued...and if a lot of QB's go and defense first...he could slide.

In general I don't like wr early because of our struggles at getting them to do much early...but I think there are a few exceptions. one, this offense is fairly easy to adapt to...especially if we just need a speed guy to beat one v one's and take the top off of defenses. Metcalf and MBrown can do that as long as you simply the route tree for Metcalf (vert routes...go, slant, post, deep overs, deep digs, and curl's). Similar for Brown but he can definitely make a lot happen on short wr screens and slants...giving us a lot of bang for short routes. Don't we tend to throw more short routes? Plus, he's a Desean Jackson clone and DJ has very nice stats as a rookie...especially if that was in a complimentary role to Davis and Humphries. That said, there will definitely be very good WR's in round 2 and probably some solid ones in round 3.

I disagree in that I think the D talent goes. At least the cream of the crop does. While there is a lot of talent and depth, there aren't that many blue chippers that I see one falling to us and I don't wanna take an iffy EDGE or DT if we think we can get a better player (and more bang for our buck) at an offensive position.

I agree about DT having the biggest impact if we hit on that pick. Would create a situation where its hard to double team anybody and we have some good fast LB who can blitz as well.

Gotta make sure the run game stays at least the same and get more push up the middle. More push up the middle usually means more sacks for the EDGE guys because the QB can't step up in the pocket.

If we get someone 3/4ths as disruptive as Casey they'll reek havoc. Landry, Casey, Wilkins, Jones, Wake would be a tough front to face on passing downs. IF we got the disruptive DT we need, simply blitzing Evans or Jayon would mean guaranteed pressure because no way 5 lineman and a RB or TE are stopping those guys.

DB's shouldn't be covering longer than 4-5 seconds on pressure plays

I think there's something you're all forgetting. Christian Wilkins isn't a nose tackle.

Whether yall like it or not, we need a space eating, run stuffing NT more than we need another pass rushing DT.

Is Bradbury a first rounder now? The few articles I read he's projected as a 3-4 rounder. I'd like the pick though, sounds like he plays with an attitude
