Beating the Colts

    The Colts rushed for over 100 yds against the Titans in both games last year. If you look at the games the Colts lost last year they only rushed for over 100 yds in one of those losses.

    We all talk about getting after Luck as the key to beating the Colts, but making them one dimensional by stuffing the run is also very key.

    We have done nothing yet this offseason to bolster our run defense.

    We are all talking about taking an edge rusher in the 1st rnd, but I think we should be giving Dexter Lawrence some very serious consideration....finding a mammoth guy with agility doesn’t happen much in the later rnds....we can find a pass rusher later in the draft

    Lawrence would occupy 2 OL which would give our LBers room to roam and he would provide serious inside push as well

    Our DB's are too good now for teams not to test our front-7. Get used to us giving up 100-yards on the ground.

    I do agree we need to improve the run defense, but you can address that in the 2nd round, still want us to get a pass rusher at 19.

    This is a bit of an over easy look at the problem. They rushed well against us...partly because we couldn't stop their passing game and couldn't get to Luck. If you don't touch the QB on a 4 man rush and can't cover because we can't get near the QB, you're gonna have difficulty loading the box.

    Having a good run D doesn't mean you HAVE to have a massive NT.

    While we NEED to beat the Colts to get into the playoffs and win our division, if you want to win the AFC Championship that typically goes through NE. Having a massive NT is only gonna help if he can move the pocket. Having a deadly 4 man rush will hurt both Brady and Luck.

    It is one of the main reasons I want to sign Suh because he can play NT and rarely loses 1v1. he can play 1 or 3 tech and blow up plays in the backfield if you try to pull the guy in front of him. AND he can rush the passer effectively and bring inside pressure. He played well last year...and if you get him on a 1yr deal...he has incentive to play his best since he's playing for his next contract.

    Signing Suh also allows us to EDGE and something else (OL, WR, TE, another DT, CB) in the top 2 rounds of the draft.

    Also keep in mind, our outside defenders will be different this year with Landry and Wake. Landry is faster than Rak was last year and Wake is probably a better edge setter. Add in a bit more Evans this year and I think our run D is a bit improved. Add Suh and we take it to another level. Add Suh and a top EDGE guy...and we are on our way!!!

    Evans finding his way late last season will do wonders for us this yr. He was great vs the run once he shook off the rust from not participating in training camp.

    We need them both to take it up another notch. They both flashed last year, now to be consistent with that..

    I want to go DL in the 1st. Wilkinson. Get a guy who can push the pocket as well as be stout against the run. We can only rush 2 edge guys at a time and we have 2 really good ones

    I think he means Wilkins. I’d be fine with him as a pick...Dude is a beast. I still wouldn’t rule out Dexter Lawrence either...

    I want wilkins bad. Love his game. Love his work ethic.

    He and Casey together would be a handful. Would make the defense much better.
