dude... free agency hasn't even opened, and he inquired about AB so he's obviously going to upgrade WR this offseason

Serious questions, if you happen to know: Was Bell fined? Fined by the NFL or the Team? What would happen if the player refuses to pay?

So you're saying that if you're running the team, you'd prefer to take the cap hit, pay $2.5M, and deal with the drama just out of spite? Then what, do it again 2 more times? Even at a discount you're better off saving the cash and taking the picks. Plus you're cutting the cancer out. Over and done.

Bell declined to accept the tag so he didn't make a dime. Technically, he wasn't a member of the team because of that but was unable to play for anyone else.

In the case of Brown, if he sits out, it is my understanding he doesn't make anything beyond the $2.5M bonus he was scheduled to receive next week. He's fined for not showing up and, at some point, loses the season. There is no cap hit.

I'm sure the Steelers did the right thing by going the route they did but I would have tried to find a way to keep him in Pittsburgh and try to make it work or, if Brown were to refuse to play, ride it out.

Ordinarily I would agree. But having just done the bell fiasco, I'm sure they just want to get rid of the chaos and move on.

I'm sure it was a factor. I still think Ben had a lot to do with it too.

I believe all guaranteed portion of players money has to be held in escrow beginning of each physical year so the league can probably just garnish the fine amount from the teams escrow account
