Only real valuable bargaining chip we have is Jackson. You cool with moving him if the price is right? What would it take? I doubt it’s a 1st. Maybe player for player?
    Logan Ryan wouldn’t get more than a 6th I don’t think.

McNair wasn’t great either but he also played in a different passing era. The Peyton Manning rule of 2005 changed passing stats dramatically.

If Alex Smith is signed, it had better not be for any purpose of wearing a uniform. He can be new clipboard Jesus and get paid like a coach to wear coach gear.

Exactly my logic. But you don’t think he can outperform Gabbert and Cassel??? Not saying I’d want him to actually play but hard to imagine him being worse than those two if needed. At least he doesn’t make stupid decisions.

Like I said, go compare statistics... I’m also pretty sure the offensive line had something, maybe just a tad to do with the sacks . Td’s... in Steve’s first 5 seasons 57 games he had 50 TD’s, Marcus in 56 games, has 69... he also has a better completion percentage, higher rating and more yards per game. Steve was sacked 95 times at this point in his career, Marcus 130... arguably Steve had the better offensive line, either that or defenses are better today.

I just find it funny bud. I left this forum a few years ago and the more things change the more they remain the same. I’m not saying Marcus is a better QB. I’m only saying that one of this franchises best had his own issues early in his career too. The instant gratification theme has permeated everything.

If Alex Smith wasn’t dead, I’d take him as starter. That leg thing is probably the end of his playing career though.

My concern is he will stay true to form & get us to around .500 again and we’ll be mid table obscurity, unsure to stick or twist and out of range of guys like Tua.

That’s why I floated the ‘Rosen for a 3rd’ idea - a bridge gap with some upside that could develop into a starter himself

Edit: obviously hope Mariota is the future and will turn the corner. Just trying to plan his back up this year and plans beyond if he’s not.

So Raiders won't pay Mack the big money but will pay it to Brown?
    Good deal for Oakland though

Raiders should go after Bell now, load up on D in the draft. Steelers West!
