What to do with Mariota past 2019

I don’t disagree with your assessment. Good thing we have another year to gather evidence. But my post was in response to a ridiculous argument. We have gotten Marcus a few weapons but our receivers are still weak. Getting him another could make a huge difference. It is stupid to say Brady, Breeze, and Rodgers donit with less so why can’t mariota. As long as he is our qb let’s get him good weapons to help him be successful. Any one we replace him with will need the same...unless we get a generational qb which is highly unlikely.

 

I just personally don’t think drafting a wideout is helping us. It takes years to develop them, and we honestly need a vet. If we a drafting a “weapon”, it better be someone that helps instantly and offers something different...Like Hockenson. (Excellent blocker and can catch downfield) or a Marquise Brown type. I say we add a veteran and roll defense.

 

Both the people you named would be fine with me. I would be fine with a good vet signing too—we definitely need help at the position. But I would argue that recently their have been quite a few rookie receivers who contributed right away—not sure they could innour system though. I am not dead set on a wr, and like you I could roll with defense. But adding a weapon at wideout in someway is necessary.

 

Indeed. The question is how and when?...We also need to address interior OL and DL. I’m nervous about how Delanie recovers. He’s 35 and coming off of a major injury.

 

Frankly, our defense is close to being eilite caliber. I say we just build that. It's the only way we're winning **** anytime soon.

Argee— but Would not go interior ol in round one unless the player is ranked significantly higher than others at the position and other prospects you like. DL absolutely with a first round pick. Also nervous about Delanie...

 

I wouldn't be against Hockerson, but I really want to see DT or DE, tired of seeing no pressure on the QB. That would help the secondary as well.

Yeah. This draft will be critical for us. I really think we need to focus on the Defense and keep it great and improving. Especially since we don’t know what lies ahead with Mariota. Fun fact: We have been between 23-29 in terms of team passing rankings between 2015-2018/19. We were #22 in 2014 with Locker and Mett. Let that sink in....lol. Discuss amongst yourselves.
