Sure, but the Titans aren't quite at "oops we forgot to hire an OC" level yet.

There are janitors that have been around businesses a long time too.

Yes, there are. Some of them get promoted to maintenance directors. If you’re going to try an analogy, you have to use it with relevance.

But how will he help Marcus? Thats the only question that should be asked right now if we are going forward in 2019 with Mariota. Never called a play before, that does hurt.

What hurts is keeping a system that sucked

    updated list of possible candidates:
Pete Carmichael (doesnt call plays as saints OC)
Eric Bienemy (doesnt call plays as chiefs OC)
Mark Helfrich(doesn't call plays as bears OC)
    Shane Waldron
    Dave Ragone
    Mike Kafka
    Sean Ryan
    Arthur Smith
    Marty Mornhinweg
    Jim Bob Cooter

    Off the table:
    Freddie Kitchens (browns new HC)
    Dirk Koetter (falcons new OC)
    Kliff Kingsbury (cardinals new HC)
    Kevin Stefanski (vikings new OC)
    Adam Gase (jets new HC)
    Zac Taylor (bengals new HC)
    Greg Roman (ravens new OC)
    Todd Monken (browns new OC)
Gary Kubiak (Vikings hired as advisor)
Mike Munchak (broncos new OL coach)
    Steve Sarkisian (back to bama)
Mike McCarthy (says he won't coach next year)
    John Defilippo (jags new OC)
    Nathaniel Hackett (packers new OC)
    Bill Musgave (broncos new OC)
    Darell Bevell (lions new OC)
    Rich Scangarello (49ers new OC)
Mike McDaniel (blocked and returning to 49ers as run-game coordinator)
    Jim Caldwell (dolphins new advisor)

Is it just the Titans and Cowboys with OC vacancies now?

Or, as is usually the case, they remain janitors. Just because someone has hung around does not qualify them for promotion. Smith may be great or he may fail miserably. The point is, he is not worth the risk given the inconsistency we have on offense. Were we farther along, and stable, then I would be up for the higher risk. As it stands now, if we have to spend ANOTHER 1st round on a QB, we risk delaying progress even more.

Tony Romo is not even on your possible list and he would make a better OC than over half of the names listed.

So given speculation around the idea we may want someone who is still in the playoffs, is there any connection between Carmichael or Bienemy and Vrabel or JR?
