This organization has reeked of incompetence for so long.

I think it's his ability to repeatedly impress a new coaching staff to keep him around, that really sparks attention. The production out of our TEs since he's been here has been exceptional considering some of the players we've used. I said the same thing about him last year after he was retained.

If you think this is thin, you should see Sean McVay's before becoming an OC... and everyone clearly loves him. Arthur's up to this point is more impressive. He's worked different positions so has diversification and versatility there, and also working under a few different coaches adds value and experience. And again, the performance from our TEs since 2015 has been exceptional.

I'm not saying he's the next McVay. I'm not even saying he's my top choice. But we can't knock someone or assume they're a bad hire, for a job they haven't done yet. He's clearly crushed the jobs he's had so far. Like someone else said, no one is qualified to be an OC or a play caller until they are. At the same time, every OC candidate is a "candidate" for a reason.

If that is who JRob and Vrabel entrust, then I'll be optimistic and excited.

 

Only rumor is from PK, that Aruthur Smith is being considered.

 

Coaches going to Super Bowl can interview next week right?

 

I feel like if thats what they WANTED they would have just come out and announced it.

The lack of news makes me think they want a guy still playing, whoever that may be.

Cowboys in the hunt for an OC now too

 

I think Arthur Smith deserves a shot at it. He knows the strengths and weaknesses of these players. He’s been around long enough. He wouldn’t be the first to find success at it after being a TE coach. Considering our offense is already close to last place and we still had a winning record, we don’t have much to lose but a lot to gain. There’s not a single candidate out there that is awe-inspiring right now. The ones who are usually get a HC gig. Give Artie a chance.
