So hes the one we should be blaming for Mary being meh half this time

 

First off it would be a lateral move for him so the Saints probably wouldn’t even let us interview him. Secondly why would he leave an OC job with the Saints to take the same job with us? I’m quite sure a feels enough of a sense of loyalty to not consider leaving for anything less than a head coaching position.

 

We were 27th in offensive scoring. No matter who the OC is an offensive regression will be a black eye.

 

True, but hiring a person with such limited experience at a crucial juncture would look worse on Coach and GM. If we were a stabilized team with sustained success on offense then you could make this move without much noise. But, as that is not the case, a Smith hire is a higher risk.

 

Same reason LaFluer left - to call plays.

 

Make or break year for Mariota for sure, be nice to get some continuity in an OC.

I understand that I'm probably being irrational but why does this organization always take forever doing anything with a coach. We aren't even interviewing people right now, while everyone else is signing people.

 

welll... some people are still in the playoffs and cant be interviewed. and who says we arent interviewing anyone? we just keep our stuff in-house better than most it seems.

 

The Titans are quite clearly waiting to interview someone working for a team that's still in the playoffs. They aren't allowed to interview until they are done the playoffs.

Or it's pure incompetence. But really it's the former.
