    Shane Waldron.

    He’s worked in McVay’s system. There’s a Patriots connection while JRob was there.

    Wasn’t his thing to not use the RBs in Minnesota and put added pressure on Cousins to perform - which predictably he failed at. Then once Flip left the Vikings run game got going but it was too little too late.

    Sounds a lot like what LaFleur did. Figure out the running game too late. In both of their defense though Minnesota and Tennessee’s O-lines had to be some of the worst in the league

    well their problem was the exact opposite of ours. they could run the ball but flip wouldnt call the plays. lafleur would call the plays but we couldnt run the ball.

    Haley=no
    Flip=maybe
    Gase=maybe.

    It looks like the guy given the least credit for the Eagles offense last year may have been most responsible in Reich. Flip got fired during the season with a vet QB. Don't know the whole story there but he's also running a west coast system...a bit different from LaFleur.

    Gase in NY has been argued about as potential HC or OC for Jets. Apparently he's VERY talented and was not let go because he did a bad job, Miami thought he did a good job. But apparently he rubs ppl the wrong way. He is creative in his use of players and schemes and playcalling...I'll give him that.

    Not a ton of great choices as a lot of the best guys will be looking for HC positions.

    Kitchens won't be blocked if they clear that staff. I'd add in Eric Bienemy if he doesn't get a HC gig and we could do something like offer him OC/Assistant HC. Don't remember if that counts as a step up or if Reid would allow him to leave as the Rams let LaFleur go.

    I think it really depends on what they want to do with the offense and who blows them away in an interview. But you can rest assured...assuming they want Mariota to be their QB of the future...how they convince Vrabel and JRob how to get the best out of Mariota and keep him healthy will go a long way.

    You'd have to think OC's in McVay/Kubiak's system...Zac and Kubiak, guys with a combo off Oregon's system blended with more traditional offense...Koetter, Helfrich.

    Or you go Andy Reid tree of west coast...Helfrich (under Nagy), Bienemy.

    Or Peterson's tree of that...DeFillippo.

    Adam Gase would be a consideration...but he'd have to do really well in the interview and convince Vrabel and JRob he could get along.

    Kingsbury I don't see because I think if you're gonna get someone from college...you take a hard look at Urban Meyer...and yes I know he's 'retired!'

    I could also see moving our QB coach moving up if all other best options fail. Would be another way to keep the same offense...but not sure as it was really LaFleur's offense. And another first time play caller.

    Would not be shocked to take a look at Darrell Bevell.

    I think we need to go in the new school direction, someone who will adapt to their players. We need somebody that has a solid chance of making mm8 look like a real nfl qb, because he will be here next year unless we get a 1st for him. I'm looking at helgrich or bienemy. I thinm either one would be good and would stick around a few years. I would also love the idea of bringing in romo for a look, pipe dream, but i like his way of thinking.

    I could actually sign off on Romo. They actually have pretty similar skillsets qb wise.

    But no way that's gonna happen.

    I dunno about making Mariota the focal point of the decision anymore. A lot of that depends on what his actual medical future looks like. It wouldn't shock me at all if he's not back at 100% by season start, and he's barely acceptable at full strength.

    JROB may back track here and go back to a ground and pound type. I think he tested the water with the Rams system but after what Henry did the last 4 games, not so sure he is going back to get a Ram guy. I do not blame him either, to beat the Colts, trying to out gun Luck isn't the way to go. Ball control, pass rush/good defense and eat clock I would think is the only way. Nothing against the Texans, but I think its the Colts division now so gotta do something to beat them.
