Spain and Kelly should be playing over Conklin. Conklin should be the sub. He was bad today, last week too and all year

 

You win and lose the game in the trenches. The line set the tone early on which resulted in a pretty pitiful first half. The quarterback was anything but perfect. But if you go into a game clear minded, trying to shake off what you did the last couple weeks and first thing you see is a line failing to pick up its man and block. It’s going to suck the air out of you no matter who you are.

The line IMO was responsible for what took place in the first half. I’d love to see this team finally get on the same page, come together and put together a lil win streak in these final games of the year. At this point If they can’t, I think we might see some big changes. And maybe there should be. At some point you just have to admit, it’s just not working out.

 

In the game against the Jets, I got really frustrated hearing how much the play by play guy kept saying he liked Lewan as the TV crew were ripping the O-Line for letting Marcus get destroyed the last few weeks. Here's a hint: PUT KELLY IN. Marcus' best performance was against the Patriots with Kelly at RT. Conklin is not and has not been 100% since out for injury, and not even 50% since being out with the concussion. If the guards can't secure the pocket get them out. Marcus is on pace to get laid out more than he did under KW. This has been the problem all season with the offense. When Marcus isn't confident in his protection it shows. Imagine this team with Michael Roos as LT- in his 3rd year the Titans went 13-3 and he went to the Pro Bowl. Then again, Munchak was the OL coach. These guys need to get better quick or get gone.

The benching of Spain (and not Kline) made zero sense to me. The team as a whole and Vrabel always back up Kline as if he's playing well.

The starting O-line should be Lewan, Spain (or maybe Jones), Levin, Conklin, Kelly.

Imagine having Conklin as a pulling LG clearing space next to Lewan & Spain.

 

At least that was just one pick. Conklin cost us a first plus a second and a third

 

The Oline has truly cost us about 4 losses this season. They were supposed to be our strength and became our weakness. Very disappointing.

 

I hate the way it’s practically impossible for us to run up the middle in short yardage situations without getting stuffed or losing yards . That’s the indicator right there , besides the quarterback getting pummeled (some sacks are Mariotas fault).

 

Re-watched the game this morning and boy was Conklin horrible. He obviously is not back to 100% health physically/mentally....Kelly started the 1st 3 games of the yr and then replaced Conklin at halftime of the Dallas game and then started against the Pats when Conklin was still out with a concussion....their is no arguing that our best offensive production has been when Kelly has been playing RT.
